No, as I posted four posts above, they may have to wait for the swelling to reduce before they can scan it properly. Sometimes it's so badly swollen you can't see on the x-ray picture what the problem is.

To be fair BB , if swelling of that kind of magnitude was at stake here there's no way that Samir would have been trying to run the injury off or walking off with barely a limp .

That's not saying there isn't a potential for serious injury here , just that the kind of swelling that interferes with a scan usually follows a stretcher case .

Now if it has swollen to the extent you say it has , I'd forget Samir for the rest of the season . Personally , I think the very worst it could be in light of everything else is a cartlidge strain

I walked around for a week with a damaged medial ligament and that was swollen to fuck. I was limping heavily towards the end though, particularly after going up a ladder....

But I've just realised it was about 15 years ago now and I'm guessing scanning technology has improved a lot since then.

All I got from the Shoutbox was "wait until the swelling subsides"

no change there, then :o

Real bonus that he'll be back for the tough games in February, we'll need him.

He should only miss 3/4 games in total.

Out for between 2-4 weeks. http://www.sufc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/sheffield-united-samir-carruthers-3511101.aspx

Ligament strain.

I would've taken that all day long.
And we have a free week included in that with Oxford getting through the 4th round.

Worst case scenario, Misses:

Looking at the weather forecast for this weekend. ! it wouldn't surprise me if the Walsall match is off ,heavy frost forecast for England and they don't have undersoil heating.
Looks like we might get a mid season break due to this, with us flying at the moment would that be a good or bad thing ? momentum with us so we should want to play, but if frozen pitch I prefer it to be postponed !!.

You said "apparently" always injured.

Someone pointed out that he had played a lot of games over the past few seasons. Ive just checked and hes played 43 games last season and 39 the year before.

This season he has played 23 league games for MK Dons and 4 cup.

I think the injury is nothing more than a coincidence and I dare say he'll be playing v Gillingham if not Walsall on Saturday

I can't see any reason for the Walsall game being postponed Matty.
Besides, even if it was, the chances of re-arranging the Gills game in time are pretty slim at best I'd say.

I've got a minimum of -1 in London and Sheffield for Saturday so it should be fine.

In this day and age professional football clubs should have undersoil heating. It should be a requirement of being allowed into the league.
