I feel a little left out of the loop, we are talking about the ex Chezzy player aren't we? I must have missed the post where somebody explained just how he had become the best box to box CM in the lower leagues, and a host of clubs are now clamouring for his services.

Have Scunny been taken over by a fish magnet then, or are reports of his magnificence a wee bit exaggerated?

Well cw will do well to get a better proven league one creative midfielder, in for him or not,he was exactly what this club needed.
But we still have Chris fucking basham. Scunthorpe ffs.

**Do not continue to read if you have a fear of reading sense**

Perhaps Wilder decided two weeks ago (apparently when we last made contact with Wigan), that there were far better options for the money out there. Now that we have had a cash injection, he feels we can do much better than Morsy.

Didn't wilder say he only wants players who want to play for us?

Didn't morsey say he didn't want to leave Wigan?

My thoughts are that if we did in fact hold talks with him - what actually happened? Did we tell him to fuck off? Did he/Caldwell speaking semi-publicly about us damage any future chances of him signing?

It could be a case of the "interview" he had with United didn't go well and we or he decided the move wasn't the best for either party.

He may have asked for his own private box on the John Street for all we know.

I have no doubt whatsoever that:

1. We made an offer for Morsy a few weeks ago.
2. The offer was well short of what Wigan wanted.
3. Said offer was as far as Tufty was prepared to go.
4. Tufty actually means it when he says that transfers will only be done, in or out, that are on our terms.
5. Tufty (as I call him) has not been back to Wigan to increase his offer. Instead he has moved along to other targets.
6. Given that we now have Paul Mitchell on board I would expect Tufty and he, between them, to come up with a good 'un.
7. We'll have a CB and CM in for sure before the deadline. Probably a LW as well and likely a couple of loans.

Let's just suspend panic for a little while longer. I promise to join in criticism if nothing's happened by the end of August.

If it's cos Scunny have offered more money then it's a sad case of affairs, if it's cos the player views Scunny as a better promotion prospect it's another sad case of affairs.

Your such a gobshite - spouting all your reasoned and rational opinion.

God I hate it when people do that on here, things like this which make it a good place to discuss things.

Why?

That's like Everton being annoyed if say Stoke came in with £15m for Ashley Williams. Everton may not think he's worth £15m but are prepared to pay £12m.

Based on previous transfer windows when the board have sold off the family silver I reckon Blades fans should have a good moan and keep pressure on the powers that be at the Lane to re-invest all the unbudgeted money from the Adams sale. I actually think we shouldn't be selling players until replacements/other players required for the team are lined up ready to go. "Adams sold, Blades sign X, Y & Z" headlines would avert much of the negativity around when star players are sold.

Ooh you little tinker Pinchy
You even managed to rouse a stirring in my cynical old loins then

If it's a case of some Blades not really having much idea about Morsy, but are nevertheless a little peed off at the thought that he might be going to Scunny that's also a sad state of affairs. ;)

Away from the nitty gritty it's almost reassuring we are sticking to our guns regarding 'value'. It seems there is a bit more joined-up thinking to our transfer approaches this season. And I'm all for that.

Cos three times I've seen Morsy play against us he's been MOTM each time, I've no doubt if he plays against us for Scunny he will be MOTM again. You can never have enough good players, what if Fleck gets injured, who play there instead? Scougs? Reed?

Real ambition would be to sign Morsy, a Basham replacement and the winger.

Amen to that.

Maybe Scunthorpe was the SUFC he was originally linked with and the media got it wrong?

Just one other question, do we think that a midfield 4 of..

Done (5' 10) Fleck (5' 6") Morsy (5' 9") and Duffy (5' 9") is anywhere near powerful or tall enough to handle the rigures of League One? I accept that Done may be replaced, but odds on as a winger he'll not be a giant, so won't we be going back to the days of Clough's mini munchkins where team's could play though us and over us?

Personally I'd like to see somebody with a bit of height alongside Fleck...with a bit of power and pace as well. Is YaYa free?

He played against us twice. He was out injured when we lost 3-2 (Higdon sent off, McCarthy gifting them goals)

What if we are now after someone better than Morsey now that we have a little extra money? Just wish Woolford and co would eff off to give us a little more freedom.
