Wigan on their way to relegation, us lacking that "enforcer"-type in the middle.

Surely it's about that time of the year for the "how about Sam Morsy?" claims to resurface?

Doubt Wilder would have him now because he failed the personality test.

He proved he's a mercenary and goes to which ever club offers him the most money. Suspect he'll still be happy at Eigsn in league 1 because he's getting good wages.

Wilder wants players that have a desire to play for a club going places.

Wonder if Morsey regrets not joining us, suspect not because he's probably only I terested in short term financial gain.

haha here we go :D

BM poster silentjourneyhome:

"The first signs of the Summer are almost upon us. The sound of leather on willow, the first cuckoo of Spring, the first Sam Morsy thread of the close season.... so here it is.

A very good source tells me that Morsy was very close to coming on loan last season but at the last minute Barnsley found themselves cash rich due to a player sale. They were therefore able to offer the player and Wigan a better financial package. This, together with the lure of Championship football resulted in Morsy going to Barnsley instead.

However, we are still very interested and my source tells me that we have been back in touch. Nothing concrete yet but I understand that exploratory talks will begin at the end of the season.

The source is a Very reliable one, in fact that same one that told me Morsy would not be signing in the 2016/17 season when all the other rumours on here and S24 SU were to the contrary.

We will wait and see.

Stranger things have happened especially when you consider the Mitchell link

When did he ever reject us?

No he never rejected us.
Just taking his time to make the right decision.
Then Barnsley came in to a load of money and at the 11th hour made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

And that makes him a mercenary?

Barnsley are in the Championship. That was probably the main factor. The financial element was probably more significant to Wigan than it was to him.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind him here next season. We haven't really got a defensive midfield option, and he's good enough to fit in with our passing game. He'll not necessarily expect to start every game either.

Maybe Wigan have other midfielders we should consider before him though, Alex Gilbey in particular, maybe Max Power too if he isn't too expensive.

Come on, some bodies grandad or grandma must have been at Bletchley or in Churchill's inner circle of behind the lines agent. Wtf are they saying ont morse code machine.

The suddenly incredibly reliable clayxblade just posted this on Bladesmad:

"Same source.

The lad is desperate to come, still lives in Chesterfield, hates it at Wigan, does not want to go to Barnsley, wants to be a blade, talks after the championship season's last games"

He didn't play for Wigan today! Just saying! Sorry in advance! Did anyone else hear the caller on football heaven - yes I do listen, sorry if that offends some;) - that he overheard a guy talking about Morsy coming to United and discussing terms? It was something like that anyway?

What day was this on football heaven?

Was it overheard in the showers?

I remember someone on here posting that we were signing O'Shea on loan in January and had overheard this rumour whilst in the shower at a gym, or something. I've since decided to only believe rumours on this basis going forwards.

What day was this on football heaven?

Thursday 4th, last week. Right at the end of the programme about 6.55pm. I know most rumours turn out to be crap but it did seem that it might be a genuine phone call that the guy who rang in overheard.

The way i understoood it, Wilder didn't want him.

I wouldn't think being relegated with Wigan has made him any more enticing.

He's another small player. Much rather the lad from Southend. Less damaged goods.

But he doesn't have a thread aiming for 3,000 posts under his name. :);)

And there the point Cb.

Morsey might have a god like complex toward SUFC now, a route out of failure. He had is chance but we've outgrown that level of player. He took the eight pieces from Wigan rather than work hard like our players did to earn success.

It's now a no from me.

Unless CW says different

Who's Dan Burn?

Dan Burn is a mythical character who appears in dreams to people in Twitter World, where everone believes what they read. In the dreams, he comes towards you but as you reach out for him he is suddenly far far away, laughing. Eventually his evil powers cause the dreamer to write incessantly about him on messageboards.
The only way out of this nightmare is when a more powerful being chases him away, such as a Ryan Leonard or a Phil Jagielka. You are then locked into Twitter World with Strappy, for eternity.
