Why was he such a twat to the Radio Sheffield reporter re Treacy's injury.
Can't understand the hostilty that the management team give to the media at times. And why is Blackwell dodging interviews atm?

For those that haven't heard it the RS reporter was asking about Treacy's injury and Ellis said he'd be back sooner rather than later and the reporter said it probably wasn't ligament damage then and Ellis seemed to tak offence and replied with, "you're a genius and a physio". Totally uncalled for IMO.

Ellis is always like that. Although the one this morning did raise a bit of a smile, he comes across as a bully when dealing with reporters and I can't help but wonder if he's the same with some of the players, particularly the younger ones

The thing you have to remember is that every Radio Sheffield interview is always just a snippet of a much longer interview (which they then make last the next fortnight ).

The thing that usually riles everyone they interview is their habit of asking the same question over and over, whether its already been answered 10 seconds ago or not.

There have been some classic examples of this over the years, one of my favourites being with Gordon Shepard.

Maybe he could do with some media training. I could offer him some training for £10,000, but my agent would want a further £100,000, he'e worth every penny though and I have only been out of work for 10 years since I signed up with him!!

Foxy, reporters typically ask the same question over and over because the interviewee doesn't answer the original question!!!

I don't know whether its just us but there definitely seems to be a 'siege mentality' down at the Lane. They think everyone has got it in for them and will not accept any form of critisism.

Have you ever listened to a full Radio Sheffield interview? :) they really, really don't a lot of the time... I'm usually shouting "he's just bloody told you that" at the radio before the interviewee has had time to respond.

I thought exactly the same thing Thorpe. He came across as a right areshole. I understand what you are saying Foxy but to be so patronising just seemed plain out of order. I appreciated his honesty early on saying that the draw was very lucky and the fans deserved better. He even said the fans were right to boo us because we were so bad!? However, he came across like a slimy politician with his illuisve answers about Treacy's injury.

As for KB avoiding interviews. Well he obviouosly was not up to facing the music. 10 goals conceded in 4 games. 2 poor losses. One to a team who had not won so far this season. 3 goals at home to a team that haven't won and got tonked 4 nil at home in the game before. Not just that but played off the park in front of a big crowd. He probably did us a favour, rather than spouting some nonsense about he character of the fight back he kept his mouth shut.

Or he'd have come on and blamed everybody including the tea lady, whilst taking no responsibility at all for "his" team. :D

Hear hear Hooded Claw.

"It was Cotterills fault for not putting in any decent crosses ......."

For SMS subscibers we get a post match managers quote after every game. For the most part these are Blackie's comments, but sometimes when its been a sh*te game and a poor defeat, its a Sam Ellis quote. Part of me thinks that Blackie's dodging the interview, but the other part is that, like after the Play off final, he may let his emotions get carried away and say something that he regrets.

As for the Hostility towards the media, so for some people (not necessarily you Thorpe Hesley) its ok for Fans to be hostile towards Radio Sheffield, but not for a member of the management team? I'm not a big fan of Ellis, I'd prefer Blackie to bring someone else in alongside Speed, but I have no problem with him having a go at the media.

And as for Blackie dodging interviews, maybe, just maybe he's more preoccupied with getting strikers in, learning to defend, getting Killa sat down for contract talks, you know, running the football team.
