Anyone hear the bollocks he was talking regarding Glen Little,He said that Little should have played like he is doing now 20 games ago and if he had he might have a better chance at a new contract, has he actually had a 3 or 4 game spell where he started games etc.. nope.

Can they not see what the fans can? If it was my decision Little would get a new contract and Sam Ellis would be out the door right away. What does he actually do anyway except interviews when blackwell is in a mardy

I'd hazard a guess in this case it's more they see what the fans don't. They see him every day of the week.

It's either designed as a wake up call to get Glen to prove he can do another year or they think he's been coasting along until the last few weeks.

A coasting Glen Little is better than any other winger we have had this season. Also why does Sam keep harping on about his age, 34 in the modern game is not old especially for a winger. I think he costs too much in wages and although an obvious talent we can't afford him. There can only be so many work horses in a team surely Cresswell and Henderson fit that bill?

I heard it and couldn't believe what I was hearing. I got the impression he was saying that Glen is only playing this well to get a contract- what a load of shit. He's never had much chance to show us how good he is. Did he say as well if glen had played better earlier in the season we may not be where we are today?, as though it's all glen's fault. Was driving so didn't really listen too carefully but would love to analyse what he said.

yeh the same guys who used to see cotterill and sharp everyday. You are starting to sound like a party political broadcast for the Blackwell party

Why am I?

I'm just trying to think of reasons other than "he's a wanker".

Apologies if this is a problem.

For the record I'd rather he'd have said "Glen is doing well, if he can prove to us he'll be fit enough, we'd like to start next season with him".

He might have picked up in training in the last few weeks which is why he's been playing.

And 34 is still fairly old in the modern game. Especially for a winger.

What an absolute wanker Sam Ellis is, it's not the first time he's proven himself to be a total cunt this season either.

Could he tell me a game where Little's been particularly poor in?

Could he tell me how many starts he's made and whether he's had any decent runs in the side?

Could he tell me what good publicly criticising a player will do for his state of mind and confidence?

It wouldn't surprise me if the fuck wit couldn't answer any of them.

NOT openly slating your players through the media is one of the basics of football management. Would you have any respect for your manager/coach if he came out in public and said something like that? If you did previously you'd lose a lot of it. These types of things should be discussed privately and in a manner which will encourage and motivate the player in question. It's not rocket science.

I have nothing against Sam Ellis (other than him being a closet pig), but those comments are utter bollocks. Glen Little has always been a good hard working pro. At every club he's been at his attitude has been superb. That is why he's been relatively successful at every club he's played for. I assumed his lack of games was down to age and general fitness but since coming into the side he's been a breath of fresh air.

KB and SE clearly don't like players who can carry the ball and go past a man; ive accepted that. Hence the swapping of Yeates for Cotterill and Howard for Harper (we should be very worried about Jamie Ward).

Glen Little has always been a quality player and should have been involved more this season (at least as an impact player). The couple of games Glen played in earlier in the season showed his quality. I remember him coming on at home to Ipswich and changing the game to earn us a point! It's just more excuses to defend poor tactical decisions. The lad should move on to another CCC club and enjoy the rest of his playing days because he will just get treated like a filler here and he deserves better.

Good luck to him whatever he does. He's been a good servant to the game and deserves more respect than that!

The following may answer why he hasnt played as much:

"Glen is often much better at home than he is on the road. When you know you are going to see a lot of the ball then it's good to have someone of his ability out there because you know he's going to be able to do a lot with it.
"But when you don't see as much, which tends to be the case when you travel, then sometimes its better to make a change because tracking back and trying to gain possession isn't one of his strengths." - Sam Ellis

Taken from the Star's online website.

I wonder if having a team full of players who's purpose is to track back but then dont have the neccessary skills to do anything with the ball once they gain possession contributes to us needing a team full of players who's purpose is to track back to regain possession??

To me it highlights the tactics that we employ perfectly, makes me worry about what type of players they are looking at for next season.

I thought listening to just that single Ellis interview was enough to want him a million miles away from the Lane.
Someone should also remind him that we should always want to see a lot of the ball wherever we're ferkin' playing and an acceptance we won't away from home perhaps sums up why we haven't won an away game for six months.

I could understand it in Premier to some extent but to trot this out in CCC when the chairman was at great pains to stress how high the wage bill is compared to most clubs, it is truly astonishing.

It symbolises the utter garbage that plentry of people on here are more than happy to accept and sit through and instead point us in the direction of injuries and the global economic recession. I naively think that football is a very simple game. 442, pace, skill, height and athleticism, cover for most positions - making best uses of the resources available. Not with Blackie and Big Sam. Not unless you have countless millions to spend and no injuries.

That interview said to me that Glen Little will not be with us next season, he just took every diversion possible to not say it as straight and as bluntly as that. Quite frankly, Little deserves better than what the current management is giving him. As for his tracking back and gaining possession nonsense in away games, that clearly isn't working, 4 away wins all season proves that, we're far too negative away, and should look more at attacking teams, making them defend their own turf, if we lose playing that way I wouldn't mind quite so much!

and there, in one nice quote, is the exact reason I won't spend another penny watching this team whilst Hoof and Co are the management team.
The dire negativity has made this the least enjoyable season I've had in 47 seasons of doing this and the sooner they are out of the door and we can try and win games again the better.

i made a hefty post on this when it was briefly posted on the OS (it was taken off pretty quickly too).

Some really good points I missed out though in my ranting and some of you guys have hit the nail on the head since then. what the hell would blackwell and ellis have done to Ronaldo if he was here! It really does make me angry.

.

Elsewhere I made a joke about us not using him because he couldn't track back enough. Then the management actually are quoted using it as an excuse. Jesus, you could cry.

No need to apologise. It is your choice to have the thoughts you do. I am just saying that it seems you think it is ok to attack fans for not attending a mccabe love in when it hasn't actually happened yet a bit far. Whether Ellis is right or wrong about Little, he just should not have said it.. What good will it do? Just keep them both away from radio sheffield till after they are gone please
