The fact I can spell his name and don’t have to worry about Osborn/Osborne.
He’s well rounded, in his skill set. Left footed, mobile, decent tackling/interception numbers as well as key passes and dribbles. He’s got a bit of everything baring goals and the sort of player we should be looking for playing in the two midfield roles but I don’t really think we’ll be in for him.

He’s a bit like a younger Fleck if you ask me. Especially this season.

I love Mowatt, we should sign him, but we have too many left sided players and not enough right sided at the minute.

Clucas is a good option too, very versatile and a strong runner with the ball. Could play left back, left wing back, left midfield or in a midfield 3. But we can’t have both him and Mowatt for me with the players we already have at the minute.

Is he a lefty? I had him on the right in my head next to a Mowatt with a number 10 in front.
If he’s left footed then yes it’s unlikely we’d go for both.

no i dont think we will be in for him either still think cairney is the most likely left footed player we will bring in even though hes 30 and has had injury problems he was a major part of slavs success at fulham mind no way we will pay 10m for him maybe 7m with add ons

I think there’s zero chance of Cairney. Far too expensive, big wages, no value for sell on, 30 years old, Fulham don’t need to sell to a direct rival and he’s had an injury hit season. He’s all wrong. The most likely must surely be Clucas if he’s on a free.

your probably right now the clucas rumour has emerged but if we did go for cairney he would have to drop his salary demands if he wants to team up with sj again

I have some reservations about Mowatt in terms of where he’d fit for us and how much more development there is in him. He isn’t better than fleck was in our promotion season or first season in the prem imo and we have capable left sided backup.

yeah think rm is our main issue we either need to bring somebody in for that position or give bogle a crack at it

That’s all it’s and buts though.

That Fleck was 2 years ago, there’s every chance he’s now a busted flush. I’d much rather flog Osborn and Freeman and sign Mowatt than not.

Fleck, Osborn, Freeman and Clucas.

Pretty sure we don't need all three for one position.

And if you shoehorn Osborn into the left back/wingback reckoning you've got 6 there if you include Robinson and Bryan as options as well as Stevens, Norrington-Davies and Lowe.
 
Clucas made 46 appearances in 2019–20 and was top goalscorer with 11. Clucas had a injury problems during the 2020–21 campaign, making 26 appearances and underwent surgery on a double hernia in February 2021

Not sure how playing 26 games last season before a double hernia makes him injury prone?

Just cos we lucked out with Didsy, doesn’t mean we should sign more over 30 injury prone players. Although some people would have us sign any old has been just because they had a season or two of glory, in the vain hope they’d magically recreate their long gone best days.
 
I like Clucas as a player and think he'll add value to the Utd squad, particularly increasing the level of creativity and goal threat from midfield.

He won't be cheap in terms of salary but with no (transfer) fee involved, it appears to be a sensible deal.
 
Not a signing that screams Joka or board style signing. More a Wilder signing.

No wonder he ain't going to the Baggies, he's still here as our undercover Director of Football. All makes sense now!

Potentially like I say I’m not outright against it just don’t think he’ll be a priority. Ultimately Slav has built some serious impressive midfields so I’ll be excited by anyone he signs in that area.
 
It's his injury record that is the obvious drawback. McGoldrick was injured for Ipswich a lot also, for those drawing comparisons. Could be another one of those free transfer gems we've had! Fleck, Basham, Duffy, McGoldrick, and for anoraks like me, Cowans, McCall, Allison and sir Bob Booker, of course! Have I missed anyone!?

Does he have a particularly bad injury record? Without looking it up, I can only recall a knee injury a few years ago and an hernia this/last season.

He's played >350 games which isn't bad for a 30 year old. I certainly wouldn't class him as the 'crock' some people are making him out to be
