After all old Irvine has had a good shot at it -quotes off porktalk:

'I'd say if we go down then the whole lot needs a serious rethink - and very few should survive the fallout imo
I think then would probably be a good time to cut our losses on the coaching and management right through this club'

'How many games have Irvine had to change it around?
How has this team changed in that amount of time?'

'FAO Alan Irvine:
Albert Einstein once said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".'

'I said when Irvin was appointed, that I was gutted. Why did Preston get rid of him? I am not a great fan of Lee Strafford either and wasn't this his first major decision!'

'how bad a decision that is now turning out to be my opinion of him has changed massively in the last 4 or 5 weeks'

'Irvines substitutions are as cr@p and baffling as Laws substitutions.
I really hoped AI was going to be the man to lead us to better things.
But unfortunately he's not.'

'Let's be honest, it's a good job Irvine enjoyed the usual Honeymoon Period when he first arrived. Without that, we'd currently be below Plymouth and have a ® at the side of our name. Since his initial purple patch after he took over, we've picked up a woeful EIGHT points, and scored only FIVE goals at home in seven matches. It's not good enough, and it's purely down to our lack of adventure and positivity.
The football is dross. Horrid to watch, and is currently ineffective. There's only one way to describe it positively: opportunistic. We rely on mistakes or percentages to create a chance ("if we kick it up there enough, the centre half will surely make a mistake eventually, and we'll get a chance"). ONE win (a very fortunate one at that) in our last TEN games. Ten game is nearly a quarter of our season...to collect only one victory in a time where wins are so crucial is horrendous.'

'Appointing Irvine is, imo, Strafford's biggest mistake yet.'

'If we go down Alan Irvine will join Chris Turner as one of the worst managerial appointments in our history.'

In the pooh:)

What's written there about Irvine is patent bollox (apart from the bit about them being in the poo). If they go down, are they seriously blaming the man who didn't recruit their squad or set their budgets? Aren't they in a similar position to when he took over? All this is revealling is the fallacy of thinking that replacing Laws would solve all ills. Short term judgements are the stuff of idiots.

I agree but the culture at S6 says otherwise.

"S6 want a new manager"

- And a new squad

- And a new investor

- And a new chairman

- And a new north stand

- And a new south stand

- And a new west stand

- And a new east stand

- And a new club shop

- And a new generation of supporters

Shall we go on?

And a new Toby Carvery

Tough position to inherit from Laws, it is clearly the players some will already be looking to move on at the end of the season.Although Irvswine has tried they are in a worse position now than when Laws left.

If you recall, when the Strafford business plan document and presentation was revealed through this very forum, one of the key assumptions was that no player currently with a contract ending in the summer (about half a dozen of them, I recall) would be offered a new contract. I wonder if that has had any effect on motivation..?
