It looks like Wendy have signed this guy from Bury. He is getting on a bit (33) but has a very good goals to game ratio. Surely we could have done with someone like that. Even if he only came off the bench after 60 mins or so.

yes we could have done with him-but they have more money than us so its tuff titty im afraid!

Someone like 33 year old Richard Cresswell, who has 4 goals in 7 games?

Beat me to it. This is exactly why we dont need Ryan Lowe.

With all due respect to him, I see him as a short term solution that we dont need at the moment.

The pigs are more desperate for match winners than we are. League table proves it.

Good point.

ha ha cant wait to get over to porktalk to see the reception signing this no mark has got

they were arguing over wether to sign lefondre or cody macdonald last time i noseyed on there:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:

Still, 7 goals in 7 games this season and 49 in 85 appearances since joining Bury in 2009 aint a bad return at all.

Wendy could do a lot worse. Don't know the fee, but a report last week said that a bid from an unnamed club was accepted by Bury in the region of £100k

In a valiant attempt to make this thread blades-based, the positive we can take from it is that he is bury's most dangerous threat, and therefore, they won't have him on saturday :)

lol
just asking cos the unclean don't deserve to be in here
I am with you, I can't believe some people's obsession with the unclean and an inability to understand how this forum is designed and works. I suspect they are closet unclean supporters!!!!

Not wanting to be branded a closet unclean-ite, but did anyone else notice the piggy wank-fest on Radio Sheffield-6 tonight? Anyone would have thought it was Ronaldo or Higuain they were signing, not some fecking lower division lump. The cloven hoofed were gushing and thanking their lucky stars that they'd missed out on A.L.F who is of course untried at this level....?!?

I hope the league table isn't sucking too many into a false sense of security. I'm delighted with the results but concerened about the quality of our performances so far.

Winning when playing shite - the sign of a good team, or a shite team having a bit of luck? Let's hope it's the former, but there's no doubt we've somehow got to improve enormously.

Priority of any successful team ,especially one that has been in decline is to shore up the defence and stop conceding. This is happening slowly but surely , the back 5 has been constant so far which is good in forging confidence and understanding. After that concentrate on the other end ,Wilson has done this to great effect so far in a short time frame. Personally I am pleasantly surprised how well he has done under the circumstances and think he should be recognised for it ,to say it is a 'shite team havin a bit of luck' is well wide of the mark.

I didn't say that, but I questioned it.

Agreed about the defence looking sound. Simmo's ability on crosses will remain an issue. Collins has been superb. But in terms of threat, weve been really short. If we lose Quinn without replacement then it's season over for me. Worryingly, all the new signings look poor other than JPL. I hope it's early days and lack of games, but Porter, Flynn and Mendez look well short.

I have lots of unanswered questions but one thing I'm sure on - The league table is enormoulsy flattering to our early form and I hope those in charge aren't being fooled otherwise.

New league, new manager & a new style of play being introduced. We were always going to start slowly performance wise. The fact we are still getting results is a major bonus.

sheff wed got a good signing in him i hate to say.

Crikey, you'd have thought they had signed Wayne Rooney. He's a 32 year old striker from Bury who only the Pigs & Bournemouth were interested in. Enough said.

I sort of agree with you but I think you need to bear in mind that the quality of the opposition we are playing is also poorer. We are not playing consistently well but in general we are not up against particularly good players or teams either. League 1 teams can be as fit as higher league teams and well organised, particularly defensively, but their strikers tend to miss more chances so we haven't (as yet) been punished as we would have been in the Championship or especially the Premiership. Players in general aren't the athletes that they are in higher divisions either and the midfielders lack the vision and some of the skill we have been used to in the opposition.

Oh Christ thats twice in a week now. I've gone all faint.

Its exactly how this should be viewed. We have beaten teams who have otherwise done well. Luck? You make your own don't you? I like the way we have gone about things thus far, tucked in nicely third in the table. No one crowing about how we are runaways or heaping any pressure on them is good. All I would say to DW is, keep doing what you are doing. Its working thus far.

Saying mutual consent on ssn, could mean he’s asked for money to improve the team, they’ve said no so he’s said fuck off then
