Player Suggestion Ryan Gauld

David Brooks wasn't picked in League One. The manager who didn't pick him didn't pick Ndiaye. The manager changed and he was picked. He hasn't been involved in any squads for a few weeks. Perhaps if he wasn't injured he would be making appearances.
So we should expect to see him in the final couple of games then?
Do you think he’s up to playing a number 10 role every week in a side looking to get straight back?
I can’t see how if this lad is good enough to be starting in a top championship side how Gauld on a free would block him.

I doubt there is a single fan who wouldn’t love to see Slater, Ndiaye, Hackford, Brunt, all firing us back up, but it’s over-romanticised expectations. However as none of them have established themselves in men’s football.
What makes you believe they are ready for what’s needed right now when all available data suggests they aren’t quite there yet and would develop better at a lower level next season?

I'm unable to assess his injury.
I've only seen him play once and he played upfront.
I agree.

I've seen a few Farense games when they've been playing on Freesports. Difficult to gauge as the standard isn't great outside the big sides, but he's a big player in their side and looks pretty comfortable. Might be worth a punt

He's a tiny Scottish midfielder so perhaps Simon Clough is still involved.
This type of player is exactly what we don't need.
Like Bremner and other similar Scottish midfielders ?

He played for Hibs on short loan deal a couple of seasons ago. He was clearly talented but a little lightweight for me.

Not sure if he's bulked up since then but I felt the roughness of the Scottish game didn't suit him at all. The English Championship is similarly blood and thunder at times.

We already have the tiny Osborn in the starting XI. Son just ran over the top of him in the last game to score. That happens quite a lot, where he is just left sprawling on the floor. The physicality in the Prem is unreal. Ryan Gauld is 3 inches shorter than Osborn. He will look like a child in most games. Fleck is small and the current CAM in our squad Luke Freeman is also small, Baldock is also quite small for a full back. We are outgunned aerially in every department of our team and squad. One on one tackles also tend to be a mismatch resorting in our players fouling the opposition or being brushed aside.
We are not good enough to have even more smaller players and weaken us even more. They are instantly at a disadvantage and need to be very very good to make up for their lack of height. Signing more of them is is not going to work as a plan. This is what Clough did and it didn't work in League 1. It wont work in a higher league.
This is the championship folks, the ball is airborne for 50% of the game (95% if you are playing Barnsley, Cardiff or Millwall).
We need more athletes, pace and physical types. We are a soft touch in most games and have spent the entire season losing challenges and watching folk stroll through our midfield and defence to score soft, easy goals.

He is miles above the quality our midfield has offerd this year

The new Ravel Morrison
I was bored a few weeks ago and was researching how many games Ravel has played - 140 in 11 years and he's not really been injured during the process too. What an incredibly bad amount of games for someone who played for england throughout the youth set-up's and was one of Man Utd's best youngsters

Bit like that young lad we bought from Liverpool, regular in the England youth set up, with a massive future ahead of him..................... what happened to him?

Lets not right him off just yet, Ben Woodburn on the other hand....

He got a champions league medal.

Setting aside the discussion of whether they’re ready if not. I don’t think we have a true Gauld type player in the academy to be honest. Brunt is a centremid who can play 10 and ndiaye looks to be a versatile striker who can play 10 like didzy. Neither of those players are primarily 10s so having them and a Gauld type player play isn’t mutually exclusive they could play in the same side.
Hassan Ayari isn't entirely dissimilar.

Although he's recently had his ears pierced. so there's a big question mark right there.

Ayari has imo the most to prove of the current crop of youngsters who sort of play the 10 role. He needs to force his way into the under 23s and perform to a high level. He is currently an 18s player that makes occasional 23s cameos it’s not impossible to jump straight from the 18s to the seniors but to do it you’ve gotta be exceptional.

Got some fabulous experience under his belt at the U20 African Nations Cup and has started to bulk up a bit. I agree with your summation, but the raw ability is there and definitely one to watch over the next couple of years. Certainly still a long way away at the moment.

Different position entirely, but based on a recent conversation I had with Paul Heckingbottom I wouldn't be surprised to see Ollie Arblaster being the U18 to make the biggest strides next season. He's been training with the 1st team recently, directly opposite Berge which is a bit of a physical mismatch!

Yeah I agree he’s progressing and I’m not writing Ayari off but I don’t think we should be taking his pathway into account when recruiting this summer given how far away from the first team he currently seems.

There’s a lot of that 18s side that seem to be making big strides towards having a career in the game. Arblaster, Maguire, Hackford, Osula, lankshear are all intriguing and should get consistent 23s football next year especially if some of the older lads are loaned out. Then there’s some others who have just turned 16 who hopefully will really establish themselves in the 18s next year.

The academy looks to be in a healthy spot just think most are at least a year away from really staking a claim to play first team for united.

Strange how he had tons of interest across Europe including premier league teams and he’s decided to join one of the worst teams in the mls
Maybe the interest was just false reports. Who knows.

One of the papers are reporting he signed a contract for £20k a week and is one of their designated players.
