There will no doubt be money available but it will be a pittance compared to the clubs that are receiving parachute payments.

The far more reliable STRAPPY says he's heard it's a 'competitive top half budget'.

If so I'll be very happy with that. A top half budget in the Championship these days equates to a substantial amount.

Not having a go at anyone, but can't understand the excitement people have of spending large wads of cash now. Obviously we need investment but as Wilder has showed you can pick many gems on loans and free transfers (whilst remembering signing on fees).

Bringing in a fancy 2 million pound player on 10k a week is no guarantee of success and perhaps not necessarily beneficial for the overall harmony.

I'd back him to get it right, a pragmatic approach is necessary. Such gossip will only mean other clubs will inflate their asking prices should we enquire about one of their players.

I've got an open Cheque Book, but there's only a tenner in me bank account :(

Strappy aka Stephenson? Is it time to roll this joker out again

I hope that the club continues its present policy of buying good players who are not established or are from lower leagues who can perform at a higher level. We have spent the last 5 years (prior to this season) trying to buy our way out of L1 with players on big wages and in some cases with big transfer fees and it got us nowhere. This season we have paid modest transfer fees on what have turned out to be very good players who are not (I suspect ) on massive wages and we have stormed the League. I have no reason to doubt that CW/AK and the scouting team will be able to do the same in the Championship rather than rush out with a huge cheque book and get taken to the cleaners by players and their agents. So spend but do it wisely. That seems to be CWs method. I am sure the board will back him all he wants on that front.

I dont think CW will hold back on spending a decent amount on a single player - if it's the right player - e.g. mentality, will fit in with CW/club ethos, is better than what we have. I think the Simon Moore singing shows CW and the board are prepared to do that.

I dont trust the board totally after their actions in the past, but they may have learnt their lesson (too much penny-pinching gets you relegated, too much spending gets your pants pulled own by players like Hammond and managers like Clough).

Has he got a good voice??

I think it's more value for money CW gets. It also brings players with the right mentality.

Jordan Rhodes has only gone to pigs for money, he dropped down a league to get an extra year on his contract probably similar money.

CW said earlier in season and I think he said it again a few weeks ago we missed out on good players as he wasn't prepared to offer the money they wanted.
