Rules on Trialists

Anyone know the regs on including trialists in a match day squad? Just wondering if we may see Camcorder or Pancreas on the bench tomorrow.

I’m pretty sure it’s not allowed, but ‘A.Trialist’ seems to be a regular scorer in the Scottish leagues.

If we really wanted to see them in match action, or got caught really short of players, couldn't we just sign them on a non contract basis?
