Just realisticAre you ever optimistic? You must be a treat at parties.
But it’s not though is it?Just realistic
My point is, I’d hardly be relying on hull city’s boards opinion on managers.
Bit of a disservice to say wilder isn't well known for improving young players. The amount of games we nervously held on to 1-0 wins & often we said ‘if that was a Premiership game we’d have been beaten 3/4-0 today’.
Wilder had to build a new squad in the summer, deal with the ownership issues & he got over 90pts.
I think where the owners would have struggled with him long term is Wilders stubbornness to play his own players, he’s not well know for improving young players & it’s clear to see the direction we’re going in with our recent recruitment.
Ultimately I think if he wasn’t sacked today it wouldn’t have been long until he was, the owners probably thought get on with it now while we’ve got parachute money and the opportunity to back the new man with their input.
I’d disagree. He had much less time than Rohl had and the transformation at Hull was rapid. He took a floundering team that had lost its way and had them playing dynamic front foot football - as we discovered to our cost. There was no element of fighting a war of attrition to stay up. It was done with bravery.I’d take his work at hull as an impact manager with a pinch of salt. You could very easily replace Hull with Wednesday and be talking about Röhl. And despite some decent work from Rohl during his first full season, he’s not had the same results and performances.
Say we lose Gus, Souza, Cooper maybe Arblaster/Peck?But it’s not though is it?
I mean, that’s not going to happen (we won’t lose all those named) but do you genuinely think they wouldn’t reinvest the money?Say we lose Gus, Souza, Cooper maybe Arblaster/Peck?
It’s very realistic
If they get there heads turned or want to leave there’s nothing the club can do.I mean, that’s not going to happen (we won’t lose all those named) but do you genuinely think they wouldn’t reinvest the money?
Sadly we don’t know how the squad will look after the Window and who leaves and who comes inI don't really watch other teams and my memory is terrible.
If we look at his time at Hull, which players did he have there that would get into our squad?
Its less about his previous success or lack of it, and more about whether he would get better results and performances out of our squad/academy?
Pecks already going. I’d be very meh if Gus goes, Cooper/Blaster won’t be going anywhere. If they get there heads turned or want to leave there’s nothing the club can do.
It’s Sheff Utd never expect anything.
It’s very likely we lose 3 maybe 4 if the price is right and One and AnalI mean, that’s not going to happen (we won’t lose all those named) but do you genuinely think they wouldn’t reinvest the money?
Then we’d have a decent war-chest to bring in players that fit our new strategySay we lose Gus, Souza, Cooper maybe Arblaster/Peck?
It’s very realistic
So why was he sacked? He’d kept them up playing this lovely brand of football. I’ve no idea.I’d disagree. He had much less time than Rohl had and the transformation at Hull was rapid. I watch far too much football and watched Hull several times at the end of the season. I was mightily impressed (as were the Hull fans) especially compared to what they had been like earlier in the season.
Playing is not improving.Bit of a disservice to say wilder isn't well known for improving young players.
Arblaster
Peck
A.Brooks
Seriki
D.Brooks
Henderson
Osula * - started too look dangerous pre season
Bogle
Burrows
He was sacked because Hull’s owner is an absolute fruitcake. He also sacked Rosenior a year previously. Have a look at the number of managers they’ve had since he bought the club.So why was he sacked? He’d kept them up playing this lovely brand of football. I’ve no idea.
What sets him apart from 2019 Wilders innovative promotion team?
Arblaster has played fewer than 30 games for us and he's been up and down in some of those like every young player, plus he's had a very serious injury no one is going to be signing him, cooper will only leave if he thinks he's going to be first choice in the Premier league and realistically only Sunderland and Leeds can offer him that with any certainty, the rest he would be competing with keepers as good if not better, the others may well go, but certainly not on the cheap, and that would give us funds to reinvest, which any new manager will wantSay we lose Gus, Souza, Cooper maybe Arblaster/Peck?
It’s very realistic
The Hull owner expects every manager to get them promoted, without actually backing them in any great way.He was sacked because Hull’s owner is an absolute fruitcake. He also sacked Rosenior a year previously. Have a look at the number of managers they’ve had since he bought the club.
Arblaster, Seriki, Peck, Henderson - yesBit of a disservice to say wilder isn't well known for improving young players.

Anel is another I’d be meh about leaving. The only biggie for me is Cooper, but I think we’d be asking 30M+ especially if Gus etc go.It’s very likely we lose 3 maybe 4 if the price is right and One and Anal
How does 1 improve someone then without playing them? Both go hand in hand...Playing is not improving.
Indeed, he had to be persuaded not to loan Brooks to Chesterfield in his breakthrough season.
Henderson, I'll give you.
The rest are debatable.
Has Burrows improved during the season? Peck? Brooks?
Bogle did much better for Leeds than he did here.
Osula?!
Don’t be ridiculousI'd be gutted if we end up getting someone in with zero history of getting any team promoted from any division.
If we sack Wilder for Selles its car park time, simple as that.
I'm struggling to understand this. How does 1 improve someone then without playing them? Both go hand in hand...
Burrows has improved stepped up
Brooks had improved (whats potentially loaning him out to Chesterfield got anything to do with anything?)
Osula clearly was improved
Peck has improved and had a break out season.
catch 22 ain't it for him... doesn't play them and hes not known for improving youngsters and cant use them etc. Does play them and it constitutes to not improving them as hes only playing them.
Reason I added osula was that very short stint against fodders I admit but pre season he started to look pretty good and towards back end of the season with odd cameo..Arblaster, Seriki, Peck, Henderson - yes
A. Brooks - he exiled for the whole of the back end of the season to the point nobody knew where he’d gone.
D. Brooks - great for a few games but he was ill after that, I’m not sure we ever saw the best of him in a Blades shirt unfortunately.
Osula & Bogle - no chance. Bogle best stint was under Hecky. Wilder hardly started him in the relegation season and he left in the summer.
Osula - He preferred McBurnie, Archer & BBD when he returned, he rarely started a game when Wilder arrived back
Burrows - debateable, already had a lot of the qualities when he arrived. I’m not sure he’s significantly better than when he signed.
I think out of all the above his biggest achievement was Peck, hopefully a new coach can get him fitter and better going forward then we have a real quality player in our hands.
I bet you went into the car park when they changed the ingredients in Carling.I'd be gutted if we end up getting someone in with zero history of getting any team promoted from any division.
If we sack Wilder for Selles it’s car park time, simple as that.
Danny Wilson was rightly car park protested and compared to Selles, Wilson actually had some achievements in his locker.Don’t be ridiculous![]()
You can play someone without improving them. Coaching is equally if not more important. How does 1 improve someone then without playing them? Both go hand in hand...
Ok so no real explanation for sacking him.He was sacked because Hull’s owner is an absolute fruitcake. He also sacked Rosenior a year previously. Have a look at the number of managers they’ve had since he bought the club.
What sets him apart from Wilder’s 2019 team is the ability to adapt tactics and formation, sometimes several times during a game. He says he learned the value of that during his time at Reading when he realised he didn’t have the players to press in the way he wanted.
