Weedy heartless jock, only had one foot, turned up for 1 in 10 games and had the physicality of a cheeky girl.
:(Ugh it hurts too much to joke.

Well here's my view for what it's worth.
Inconsistent, light weight who on his day will be very good. Problem is his days are too few and far between. i don't think he'll be missed.
I'm with that. I think we've got good cover for him, and all too often he didn't do it. Not to say he's not a top player at this level, because he is. But he's a weakling at that will limit his progress.

It's all about if, and how well we reinvest the money for me. The squad needs rebalancing.

As a genuine roygbiv comment I'd go something like: Has a great trick to dummy and turn players. Has tricks to run at and get through players as well. Exciting when he got the ball - you thought something might happen. Can go inside or outside. Can sometimes be a bit lightweight and go down like a not-very-heavy sack of potatoes. Player of the Year last season. Good luck Murph. And I hope you get to play for Scotland. Blue and white stripes though? What's that all about?

I have had a quick look. Mostly they are delighted by his signing, quite surprised how outraged we are and a few seem to think they are now a bigger club than us

If Brighton can bring the best of out Jamie Murphy week in week out then fair play to them, we definitely couldn't! One good game in five was his average over the course of his time with us.

I'll put my comment out there for any Brighton fans wanting to know.

Murphy was a good player, especially on his day.. could change a game in an instant. One downside they will find though is that he is largely inconsistent. One game he could be fantastic, the next he will be non-existent. Overall though he was our best player by a long way.

However please note that all of the bold only applies once every half a dozen games.

When we come back and we will he (Murphy ) will be forgotten

Istm that a lot of this is informed - if that's the right word - by a very strong feeling of we've seen all this before. I think that's wildly misplaced and I really hope it doesn't adversely affect the game tomorrow.

It is the fact that this happens every season rather than the player himself going which is causing so much anger. Brighton fans must look at the outrage and think they've signed the greatest player ever

It goes a lot deeper than Jamie Murphy going. We have lost much better players than him in the past few seasons but I think many people are just fed up of losing our better players year in year out despite all the crap spouted by the board. You can't help but feel like you've been cheated in some way

He may not be the most consistent, but when he's on it he doesn't just win the game, he is majestic. Highlights were doing Forest in added time to swing the cup tie with two identical runs down the left to win a penalty then give Porter a tap in, his wonder strike at Doncaster, and his double to beat Swindon last season - a sublime chipped finish to see them off at 2-0.

As a player he offers little defensively. Going forward he has one trick that works every time: 40-50 yards from goal he will turn square on to the full back, wait, knock it down the line and do him for pace. If the full back sticks to the touch line to stop him going down the line he is happy to drift in field then anything could happen.

In a miserable division with a mediocre team, he was the player to get us off our seats. Good luck Jamie, and hopefully he will entertain.

Note to Matty Done: get thissen healed and fill this gap.

Inconsistent but one of very few players we have capable of real quality. On his day our main match winner.

Quality out - cheaper inferior replacements in. Nothing changes. No ambition

Average attendance of over 25,000.
In an higher division than us.
Able to double the wages of our best player.
What makes you think that they aren't a bigger club than us now?

Spot on edinblade I agree with you now let's spend the money wisely

Keep him on his left peg and he is toothless

I think Hughton's preferred formation is 4-2-3-1, which gives wingers a little more attacking freedom than Adkins' 4-4-2. Murphy may reason that it will be easier for him to impress within their set up, at a higher level and therefore he may increase his chances of international football. And he won't be earning less I'm sure.

A mate of mine used to play with him at Motherwell and his exact words when we signed him were "on his day he is unplayable, when he's bad he wouldn't get a game in the Sunday league". Sums him up perfectly I think, I think we've been lucky to see the "unplayable" Murphy but as everyone says he's a 3 bad games to 1 good type of player.

Without the red and white tinted glasses, it's clear as day they are a bigger club than us now.
