Roygbiv, you do a wonderful job collecting the views of opposing fans, one of the highlights of the forum in my view.

Given the degree of moaning from some on here about our transfer window dealings, any chance you could do one of your threads about the views of Brentford fans and their views about selling some of their quality players? Maybe it'll help some on here to realise that life could be far worse.

It's as if some on here don't know they're born, given the extent of their whinging and blame attachment!

Cheers mate

PS. I'd do it myself but on controlled drugs at the moment so I might make a balls-up of the job!

Makes you wonder what the hell Brentford are thinking. From genuine playoff contenders in my book to... ?!

I'll try and get some stuff tonight!

Can't wait to read their reaction. We mighty think we've got problems (all relative of course), but compared to what happened to the Bee's fans, they must feel sick to their back teeth! They were expecting their midfield maestro to leave, but that should have been it!

Which is why sometimes our fans need to take a step back, not losing people is as big a deal in our position. In recent seasons we'd have lost Fleck, JOC for example.

Correct......it's an inability to see a far bigger picture. It's no wonder that with very limited information some on here draw conclusions that give the appearance of being clueless. We're in reasonable shape. We've got good players, possibly the best midfield in this division, and so far we're doing ok, in fact far better than I'd imagined we'd do......but cutting the club a little slack seems beyond the imaginations of some of the 'experts' on here.

Roy while you're at it can you please get some views from our moaners to find out what they thought of yesterday's dealings ?

I think it deserves a section on its own :)

Would that be Brentford that have a ground that isn't even half the size of ours and are punching above their weight somewhat at Championship level?

Crazy of them to sell their players like that on the final day of the window but its not like we have never done it before.

Agree.....it's just to remind those on here that things could, and have been, much worse. Comparatively we're doing fine.

My brother is a Brentford fan and still believes they have one of the best squads in the championship

Great O.P. and we could do another for Arsenal fans, Chelsea fans, Wendy fans and Toon fans.

Everything is relative and we are a solid 7/10 for the Window and we have kept the Champions together AND all onside and given their chance to each succeed in our journey. The spirit and the unity is still there for all to see.

AND we have money to spend in January.

As Redknapp and Wilder say, often the players are the victims in this game the agents play. However personally I don't think Sinclair and Cole would have necessarily made an immediate impact. I'm certain Donaldson and Clarke ( remember him anybody?!) will do just that and score goals!!!And then there's the fat lad.

All of them are backed up by that midfield with cover in every position. They can't fail to score

If you were expecting a meltdown prepare to be disappointed

“Signed more players than we've sold and made a profit. £8.5m for two players who would have been worth half or nothing if we had them now. Football may not be a fair business but we did what we had to imo.”

“We brought in 6-7 players this summer, we have the best U21 squad in the country, when did they last lose a game? 5-6 of these boys are top quality and are in the first team squad.
The three that have left were expected to leave and we did our home work early and brought in replacements long before we sold them.
As per every year the plan is the same, buy cheap, sell high and try to survive in this world. If we don't sell we will go bust, it is as simple as that.”

“Our wage structure will always limit our ability to retain a players services when they enter the last year of their contract. Our DoF's know this, which is why they have a conveyor belt of talent coming in at one end and a few money chasers going out at the other end. It's also the reason I think we're starting to give our incoming players a longer contract length of 4-5 years plus an option to extend by a year.
I suspect this 'model' is one of the reasons we're able to attract such talented footballers to us in the first place, such as Watkins. He's no fool, he knows this club is best placed to develop him, coach him and play him in a progressive Championship side playing the right kind of football that will enable him to clinch a big buck money move when his contract comes to and end.”

“That was an interesting day, no tears to shed, we know the model, it has us where we currently are, we will survive, I wonder that we may even go from strength to strength.”

“You can spin it all you like but our best CB, best RB and best Forward have all gone to one of our rivals. This is bad news.
We have to now hope that Egan, Dalsgaard and Canós can step in to their shoes adequately.”

“£2m bid for Egan from Sheffield United?
That really was taking the piss, it was laughable.”

“I would take 17th to 20th at the moment, survive this season as it should be fun next season as all the teams that have spent well over the top can't all go up. Hope we have the chance to blend some of the B Squad later in the season. I'm glad the window is over as it's never good for my health, very disappointed we never brought a couple in yesterday but that's now over and I can't wait to boo all three when they return on that Wednesday night. The problem is Birmingham have so many players all three might not play. Anything above my prediction would be great effort by the team. I apologies for my 6 monthly burst in the transfer windows.”

“With 3 players who been playing at 60% moved on I think the team v Villa will have much more energy and drive.
A sneaky, final day 6th. 12th by Christmas.”

“Overall I think our team is similar to last seasons, however the squad by and large are contracted long term whereas two key players last season were not. And we've made close to £15m. The players are younger so have a lot of room to improve and find consistency, and prior to January last season the squad was definitely weaker than it is now. So with that in mind, an entire season to go with this group of players, plus the arrival of Marcondes in January and hopefully Alan Judge to come back in the new year I think things will even out soon in terms of points and we'll be up by the play-offs.”

“Now the window is shut i can make a informed prediction on this season , we have some very talented players but seem to lack a little experience so this will be a inconsistant year which i feel we will finish around 16th or 17th with the present squad. If we add to this in january with also the Danish chap arriving we could push into the top half.
Im afraid the play-offs are out of our reach and we all need a reality check on this.”

“We have a talented squad. As always a lot will depend on injuries or hopefully a lack of them to key players. If we get luck in that area IMO no reason why we can't get in the top 10. At this stage l wouldn't like to predict any more as you can be sure we will be raided in january if we are doing well with Woods the likely target or Maupay if he starts scoring regularly. In that situation we will have to see what the management reaction will be although l was encouraged to read Giles' comment that Sunderland were told that Woods isn't for sale at any price but we've been there before. One advantage we have now is that the side should become more settled week in week out which can only be a good thing”

Did this bid even go in ! Haha having read the other thread which followed the club on deadline day, I suspect this was another great Sky Source which had everyone going, including me, fucking mugs !!

To be honest - did anyone even enquire about JOC or Fleck? Wouldn't surprise me if not. They're still under the radar and not fashionable foreign names to be deemed worthy.

Expect plenty of interest come January though.

There may well be interest in January. ..but why would they want to leave the team who is top of the Championship...?
:)
