Very true! Though, he’ll need a season or so to adapt to the English game, and I don’t think fans will give him that time. (He’d be a similar signing to Soumare in which he’s never played in the English leagues before, and we didn’t really give Soumare time to adjust before deciding he were shite).

I dunno about change, I think most fans accept change is part and parcel of football, but writing off a young player playing his first season in English football within 6 games is crazy work.

Signing a young player who’s shorter who also hasn’t played in England before and expecting a different result is mental. He’ll be given 6 games again, then written off if he doesn’t show he’s Pirlo.

I'm open-minded on this one, but as has already been said, writing off a defensive midfielder because of his height, after we were privvy to the absurdity that is N'Golo Kante at Leicester and Chelsea, would leave one at risk of looking quite foolish.

Makelele as well wasn't exactly a hefty fella.

I think the "brexit wilder" comments are getting old , personally thinking wilder is probably realising that this next season is going be his last chance of being able to raise his stock with certain sections of our fans base. ( personally I'd rather see us replace him but I'll grudgingly give him my support if he's in charge)
But !! I don't only blame wilder for our recruitment but also the team above him. The championship is all about pace,athleticism and a good level of skill. As suggested elsewhere 3 start signings of Souttar, walker and Phillips ( if we can keep him fit !! ) along with existing players like tanganga etc is the defensive basis.
I like peck but a kid like this as back up ( to start) would be a move forward.

Writing off a player you've never seen purely based on height is equally mental to be fair

I get your point, and we definitely shouldn’t be writing a player off based on height.

At the same time, we aren’t signing anyone fit to lace the boots of Kante or Makalele are we?! He’s more likely to be Monty-esque than Kante-esque.
