The transfer window, Desso pitch, Ramsdale, fake news & rumours, pissy arguments and cat fights....anyone looking forward to the next match and pushing on from our lofty position 2nd in the league?

Looking forward to seeing which of our new signings gets the shirt and what Chris has managed to achieve on the training pitch. Plenty of ups and downs to come but literally can't wait to get down the Lane on Saturday. The next 5 games will define the season so as fans we need to play our part and turn the volume up.

I suspect Hanson might get the shirt and we'll also see O'Shea or Carruthers start. Will be good to have a proper look at them.

yes ive a feeling hanson might start and i think if we give him the service ie crosses in to the box from out wide he will do some damage

I doubt Carruthers will start, coming back from injury. More likely to get the last twenty.

Bring Jake Wright and possibly Wilson back and I'll be relatively confident of a return to winning ways. If we remain encumbered with the same lamentable shite in the defensive positions however, then I guess I'll be yo-yo-ing a turtlehead for 90 minutes, made harder by the fact that I drink a lot of black coffee pre-match.

He'll put himself about a lot, that's for sure!

It'll be interesting anyway, I expect Wimbledon to come and park the bus with some Lacey counter attacking. Let's hope we've done the work to manage this more effectively.

Recently we've had similarities to Liverpool

Looking really good by playing a high tempo high pressing game
But teams lately seem to have recently sussed Liverpool by sitting deep, giving them full respect then trying quick counters on the break. We've had a similar blip recently too and need a plan B when teams defend deep in numbers.

Our previous plan B was playing Chapman on the wing and encourage tricky direct running at their defense. This actually worked well and we so miss him.

The other plan B, which is more interesting is something we haven't used for ages.
This season we have the most corners and crosses of any side in the league
SO imagine the damage that could be done if we have a big physical centre forward that is good at heading.
It could give the team a new dimension and open up a new set of tactics and options for Knill and Wilder.

So I'm excited to see how it works. It's a bit like playing the 1st match of a new season.
But it could end up being a big anti climax with Hanson just looking like a limited Gary Madine type of player.

This forum is likely to be very busy Saturday evening.

Just hope we keep a clean sheet and EEL smashes another couple of goals in, with Hanson notching also :)

You're right roddles, completely forgotten about the fact we are playing on Saturday, seems ages since we last played, every reason to be looking forward to it, not least to take a look at our new players, always something to look forward to.what cgance seeing all four involved?

After the past few seasons, when frankly home games had become a bit of a chore and I'm sure I wasn't alone in attending out of sheer habit, I had begun to look forward to games this season. Slightly worried that it will all prove to have been yet another of United's grand deceptions, though, and that the slide from a position of strength and promise, will be even more painful than enduring a nothing season like the last campaign.

Fancy that it'll be a frustrating draw on Saturday. A day in S2, which will be good, but I'd be lying if I said I was looking forward to the actual match.

I think with Chapman, Riley, O'Shea and Hanson, we've got a plan B and a plan C. I'm encouraged that Chris has identified the problem quickly and got a solution sorted.

I'm based up in West Yorkshire and know Hanson is no technical genius. He does however have excellent work rate and will put himself about a lot. This should open up loads of space for the players around him. Throw in a bit of guile in O'Shea if Duffy is struggling and a bit of pace from Riley and Chapman and we've got loads of potential to change the game around when opposition just try and stifle us. Ditto Carruthers has plenty of quality and a bit more bite if Coutts is off the boil.

Plus I quite like seeing new players, all of whom seem to be decent characters as well as adding something to the mix.

its always dull as dishwater having a blank weekend
this break though will probablu given carruthers and chapman the chance to contend for a place as fitness returns
what we do have are some new options
alongside cw learning not to use mc nulty, ever , unless we have a coach crash

doubt carruthers will start but hes the one i am looking forward to seeing most out of the 4 think he could be a match winner for us and o shea i feel will be a very handy sub as well for me the season starts again for us saturday cyraww !!!

I just wish we'd sign a player who rhymes with 'soon'.

Just hoping Lyle Taylor doesn't decide to show us we made a big mistake letting him go, bet he's fired up for this one.:(

weve both lost 2 and drawn 1 of our last 3 games

Also Liverpool are still dominating matches but teams have learnt to give up midfield and defend deep denying any space in the box or behind the defence. Liverpool push up then their defence is vulnerable to quick counter attacks. Watching Liverpool against Wolves with all their possession ans sideways passing reminded me of us in recent games.

You can bet that Knill and Wilder have come up with a solution to break down a packed defence.
Looking forward to the Wimbledon game to see what their plan is and if it works.

Maybe Klopp needs to take a leaf out of Wilders book and try a big man up top?
