Club officials were conducting talks with Robson in Spain yesterday with a view to installing him at the head of a new management team which includes another former Manchester United player in Brian Kidd, who had been slipping into the background at Bramall Lane but is now in line for a prominent role as Robson's No2.

Robsons management record.

Managerial stats

Middlesbrough From May 31, 1994 To December 6, 2000 G 314 W 127 L 101 D 86 Win % 40.44

Bradford City From November 24, 2003 To June 17, 2004 G 28 W 7 L 20 D 1 Win % 25.00

West Bromwich Albion From November 9, 2004 To September 18, 2006 G 81 W 19 L 38 D 24 Win % 23.45

This would be a backward step, if I remember rightly veneables had to bail him out at middlesborough, he is good at spending money, but not much else, in my humble opinion

robson would sound the death knell for a first time promotion, and the squad generally. He brings some kind of football wasting disease in his wake. no way should we touch him.

Looks like he'd be a popular choice amongst the fans.

:D

Whoever it is we will need to get behind them from the start though.

He has a bit of an up and down record but he is undoubtably the best option out of the 3 listed by Terry Robinson.

If Bassett came back i would feel as low as i did when we were relegated.

he could do like he did at middlesboro - sign two stellar south americans, play them in a team of cloggers and secure premiership status. I'm not sure but i think that might've worked for someone else recently as well

I'm more interested and intrigued by a higher profile role for Brian Kidd. Top quality coach and assistant, more influence and contact with players than the manager, generally. Could be a good development I think.

Robson? ROBSON? ROBSON? I'd rather have Robson and Jerome than Robson and Kidd.

Bryan Robson? Christ on a bike, we must be desperate. I was never one of the "Warnock out" brigade, but Robson? I'll be one of the first in the queue to shout for him to quit.

The more I think about Robson the more depressed I feel, We have just got to be the unluckiest set of supporters in the whole world if they do appoint Robson. Haven't we suffered enough recently(well for my 47 years actually).

I dont know who we need, but not him.

The bad thing is, I think it will be Robson who takes over :(

if that is true, then i would choose dalglish. But im not so sure it is. Why would he want to get back into managment at this stage?

from the remaining candidates that have been mentioned, dont like reid (He looks like a monkey) bassett can whistle as far as im concerned (Especially after his recent comments) so robson would be my favourite.

The difference for me between what he could do for us and what he's done elsewhere is that we really do have a strong board.

Please God no!....not Robson...Listen to Baggies fans, they said he was the most negative manager in their history, bar none...

Not only that, but I think he is out of his depth at any level of management...He would just see coming here as a 3 year pay packet...wheather he saw out his contract or not...

Please lets look for a more sutable candidate...

I would rather have someone like

Joe Royal

or

Chris Coleman

or

Stuart Pearce

or

Dave Jones

or

Paul Jewel

but please not Robson!...or Keith Curle!;)

Ideally id like Paul Jewell despite him having managed the scummy blue and white lot.

Also lets be fair he actually helped wreck wednesday which is surely a good thing. :)

just heard from someone that when the portsmouth saga with warnock came about, Mccabe was 24 hours away from getting dalglish in as the manager.

think we might get dalglish and this robson is a coverup to not lead on so man city could nab him!

McCabe has sense and i cant see him getting robson in

you think they would have sense there not to!

Why dont they go for Kenny Dalglish hes a far more experienced manager or even Gerard Hollier!!

Only downside i think to him is he has been out the management game for 7 years.
