CONFIRMED Robin Olsen signs on loan

Not getting 'the winger' in has definitely took the shine off some of these earlier transfers but Olsen was arguably the best keeper we were linked to, very happy with this.

Hopefully it's a good fit and we make it a perm, we can have our very own Tim Krul but I won't want to punch his punchable face.

Looks like Verrips and Wes are finished at BL now. May as well look to move one or both on in Jan.

... and presumably bring someone else in as backup? I agree that Verrips isn't going to want to be the number 2, but I can't see us getting rid of Foderingham and bringing Jake Eastwood back in as backup, or promoting Amissah from the U23s. Might be wrong though!

Yeah I reckon Verrips will want out in Jan and I suppose it's weather we want Wes as backup or not. If he doesn't fancy it then he could move on at the end of the season. Either way we could face next season needing 2 keepers.
 



I'm guessing this is the first time ever that Roma and Sheffield United have done business together?

Have we ever even signed anybody from an Italian team before?

I think verrips will be moved on probably back to Belgium or Holland. Eastwood I think we’ll try and find a club for as well although he recently had an unsuccessful trial and Cambridge which doesn’t bode well. Eastwood and amissah are 20 now and out on loan in none league it’s looking like make or break time for them they need those loans to be successful and to start moving up the football league ladder.

Off the top of my head:
Arturo Lupoli on loan from Fiorentina
Goran Slavkovski on loan from Inter
Emanuele Gabrielle - I think signed from someone like Ternana
Frederico Meacci - joined under Colombotti but think he might have been a free agent

I'm guessing our new transfer man in Jordan has good Italian links given the almost transfers from Samp and Parma, as well as Olsen.

Is it me or do all our signings have a hint of desperation and a paucity about them?

Inexperienced or in to their 30s every time!?! Rumours of an Algerian 35 year old. Swedish keeper who hasn't been in much club action since 2018.

Season-Long loans are another indicator of the already-doomed 'Project Bounce-Back'. Problem is much bigger than Slav, he'll do well to still be here in January, keeping us up may be a major achievement too if he's still here in May!

None of this is even plastering over the cracks nor looking to the future.

Currently everyday feels like the coach trip back from Cambridge United 1 Sheffield United 0 [5 May 1979]...
..."don't panic, we only need to beat Leicester by 5 goals at home to stay up!?!" We didn't.
