Let's drop an improving, athletic, aggressive 23 year old who just held his own against what, according to what I've seen on here is the 2nd coming of Cafu.

Haven't Forest got Cafu as well?Let's drop an improving, athletic, aggressive 23 year old who just held his own against what, according to what I've seen on here is the 2nd coming of Cafu.

He'll end up being a decent player and probably play 200+ times for us in the Championship, if we get promoted he'll be able backup.Folk are going to have to change their thinking soon. Assuming we donβt somehow sneak promotion this season, our team will become younger, cheaper, and aim to build a challenge over the following 2-3 years.
RND is exactly the sort of unfinished article weβll have to invest in and gamble upon.
When Stevens was 23 he was on loan at Northampton and Donny. I think RND has plenty of potentialHe'll end up being a decent player and probably play 200+ times for us in the Championship, if we get promoted he'll be able backup.
He will, he's an average Championship LWB at the moment, he might develop into a good one with some luck and application. I have no problems with him at all. When Stevens was 23 he was on loan at Northampton and Donny. I think RND has plenty of potential
I think he decisively lost the first half, at the very least held his own 2nd half against Spence. Loved seeing how quickly he closed him down and roughed him up physically after giving him too much respect early. There's a group of posters on here with which we could add up the IQ's and not get to double figures.
RND is in his second season in the Championship, first season infront of fans. He's 22. He's a full Welsh international. He's had some poor games, some average ones, and lately some brilliant ones. Friday is the first time I've seen him struggle with his opposing number directly, it happens.
Dropping him would be fucking ludicrous.
Let's fucking have a word shall we?
I've seen people say RND is our 'worst' left back of the 4 we have on the books. The worst.I think he decisively lost the first half, at the very least held his own 2nd half against Spence. People still think Stevens is coming back. Stevens has been utter, utter garbage for about 3 times as many games as RND has played for United. His contract is now one of the worst outside the Premier League. RND is providing brilliant value for money on his.

What did Spence do 2nd half? Seriously?Held his own!?!? Spence tore him to bits.
I'll give you athletic and aggressive, but "improving" is not a word I'd use to describe RND unless you're using the term vaguely, in which case every professional footballer is improving.
RND had a purple patch post B-ham Away / pre Blackburn Home but in the last couple of games he's looked as ordinary as he did under Slav. Of what I have seen this year, we've got an "ok" LWB on our hands.
Also, the sarcastic "2nd coming of Cafu" to describe Spence only weakens your point. If Spence is an overrated, Championship wingback who ran rings around RND, what does that make RND?

Utter bollocks.Held his own!?!? Spence tore him to bits.

Also, there's a gap between Spence being a very good RWB and the coronation he's received on here.Held his own!?!? Spence tore him to bits.

RND said:It was there that he achieved A-levels in maths, physics and geology, and was accepted into Southampton University to study civil engineering and architecture, at a time when being part of a Premier League promotion push felt rather unlikely. βEducation was my main focus and the thought of getting back into football was a bonus,β he says. βI was preparing to go to uni. Growing up I used to like structures, building sandcastles on the beaches, so I always had an interest for it.β
I'm sure that the prince has pencilled him for somethingInterview with RND in today's Guardian:

He'll be rivalling Ben Osborn for brightest in the squad at this rate. Building sandcastles?! The sky's the limit.
Interesting lad, not your traditional childhood or upbringing, so he's a well balanced, objective and articulate person. I think he's doing better than would have been anticipated and seems to be getting much further forward more regularly. Level headed individual who we should be encouraging.Interview with RND in today's Guardian:

I think the βrunaround Benβ perception is a bigger stereotype than the assumption RND might eventually become a top Championship wingback.I've seen people say RND is our 'worst' left back of the 4 we have on the books. The worst.
Runaround Ben and Enda aren't fit to lace his boots. Max Lowe has never had a good game for us.
Agreed, let's put it this way.. Ozzy can cross twice as well with his weaker foot than RND can on his strongest foot.I think the βrunaround Benβ perception is a bigger stereotype than the assumption RND might eventually become a top Championship wingback.
RND has improved from a fairly low bar though.
Absolutely, I'd be looking to move Enda on at the end of this season, if we absolutely can. The man was magic in all that we achieved, and brought loads of fond memories, but he's only the decline - injuries and performances prove that, and have done for a long while.I think he decisively lost the first half, at the very least held his own 2nd half against Spence. RND is better than Osborn, periodAgreed, let's put it this way.. Ozzy can cross twice as well with his weaker foot than RND can on his strongest foot.
RND has created 0 big chances all season and expected assists are negligible, which speaks alot to his final ball.
Offensively Osborn is easily a better option, but with hard work and application RND could become just as good.
Defensively i would say RND is better however.
Maybe play Osborn at home and RND in away games??
Agreed, I think we got away with one early on against Boro. I get a bit nervous when he's being attacked in/around our box as he's a big strong lad (particularly for a wing back) and it makes him a little clumsy. For me he really needs to work on the reckless side of his game. It is good to see that he is keen to get close and challenge his opposite number but too frequently he gives away needless fouls that have/could have cost us dearly.
Hopefully the older players in the squad can support him and guide him.
And what did RND do second half considering he is also a wingback and attacking is part of his role? What did Spence do 2nd half? Seriously?
Not much. He needs to work on that part of his game. He puts the effort in but in that specific game we struggles attacking wise as a teamAnd what did RND do second half considering he is also a wingback and attacking is part of his role?
He looks like he could become a good left back but his lack of quality going forward will prevent him from being a good wingback in my opinion. Not much. He needs to work on that part of his game. He puts the effort in but in that specific game we struggles attacking wise as a team
With how much his defensive play has improved in a short time I wouldn't back against him upping his attacking output significantly as well. His basic technique is good and his crossing is inconsistent but he has put some really good balls inHe looks like he could become a good left back but his lack of quality going forward will prevent him from being a good wingback in my opinion.
