MumI remember shouting at Dave Holdsworth when we losing at Hudders, 'Holdsworth you fat b'tard get stuck in'! I got a stare for that, and then someone, in SUFC trainiers (yes, I know) had a go at me! Calmed down the when he realised I was with my ???? lol
Barnsley played right back at Gillingham in the 3rd game, and I think played at least once more.I'm very sure 3 of those players never played for us in the 88/89 season.
Andy Barnsley, Paul Williams and Wally Downes.

Williams played twice, I think, once at Bristol Rovers when Deano was suspended, and once as a sub
Downes didn't play. he was injured in pre-season in a private practice game v Wednesday and had to retire. His namesake Chris Downes (no relation) played a couple of games.
Of the 3 goalies in the photo, only Graham Benstead played. Andy Leaning left before the season began. I think the other one is Paul Heald, who went to Leyton Orient around that time. We got Simon Tracey as cover instead....
He is. He’s next to Wilder.Cheers for thatisn't Martin Dickenson in that photo he didn't play either?
As I remember wasn't Martin Dickenson involved in a car accident and it wrecked his neck, and he had to retire from the game?Cheers for thatisn't Martin Dickenson in that photo he didn't play either?
I normally group it together with the following season, but that might be my favourite Blades season and team ever.

I got into the bookmakers next to the ground before the match at Twerton Park, I saw John Francis (I was expecting him to play in Deano's place) placing a bet there so I asked him if he is playing. He replied "No" so I asked him who is in Deano's place. "Paul Williams" was the reply. I put my hands on my head saying "Oh no". Francis laughed at my reaction.Williams played twice, I think, once at Bristol Rovers when Deano was suspended,
I'm.not surprised he was fucking useless.I got into the bookmakers next to the ground before the match at Twerton Park, I saw John Francis (I was expecting him to play in Deano's place) placing a bet there so I asked him if he is playing. If I recall correctly we signed Tracey in Oct, sold Leaning in Nov and Heald in Dec to Bristol City and Leyton Orient respectively.Barnsley played right back at Gillingham in the 3rd game, and I think played at least once more.

I have double checked and that’s exactly right, though Leaning had been on loan at Bristol City in October. If I recall correctly we signed Tracey in Oct, sold Leaning in Nov and Heald in Dec to Bristol City and Leyton Orient respectively.
