I’ve been using the official site’s ongoing matchday revisited to fill the gap – they put the Wolves game in full yesterday. This has been great in allowing me to watch games i was either out of the country for, or following on the forum’s Twitter updates.
Key takeaway (in addition to us being obviously a joy to watch) is that I’d completely forgotten what an absolute nightmare Keith Edwards is to listen to. Back in the 02/03 season he used to constantly moan about Peter Ndlovu, used to drive me mad at the time. In recent seasons if I’ve not been able to make a game I’d try and see it on a stream or just follow it on twitter and catch the extended highlights. So I’ve been living generally in an Edwards-free zone.
Happy to be corrected, but my sense from the rewatched games is that Lys Mousset is Edwards’s 2019/20 Ndlovu. This is at the stage of the season where he’s right in form and Edwards can’t seem to wait to criticise him.
He is also the master at making a barely entertaining joke midway through commentary and laughing at it in the face of no reaction from Giddings or Oxley. That and him somehow every half crowbarring in a “when I was a player Andy...” – we know you played Keith!
I’d genuinely forgotten he was a constant feature of the Radio Sheffield commentaries. I know he’s a hero for some for his playing career, but as someone that never saw him he’s always for me been that insufferable guy on the radio who when Heath went tried to get the job.
