If our interest in the summer was genuine (it appears it was), I can see us signing RJJ in January, and he might be the only linked striker we could sign without the guarantee of starting.

End of the day, we've got 4 strikers (Campbell, Moore, Brewster and Oné) competing for 1 striker position so signing a striker will be difficult (as there are no guarantees of first team football) unless they can cover another position, e.g BBD.
With all due respect at the moment the young lad Oné should not be near the first team squad especially for a side at the top of the Championship, if we do get a striker and we definitely need one then Oné needs to go out on loan.
The other 3 have also all had injuries this season.

True, Oné should be out on loan, Marsh too.

Not sure what league to send both of them to though.

Unless One and Brewster go out on loan. One possible Brewster unlikely unless he’s off int summer

Don't see why One couldn't play at championship level starting for one of the teams that are struggling
I can’t think of a championship side where he’d be starting, which is what he needs. He also ideally needs to be scoring and building confidence and game craft so league one or two would be equally appropriate for him.

He's only just turned 18. Not many teenagers regularly starting in the championship. There's a few but it's the exception not the norm

Oné needs games at this level, not league one, for me. He’s ready for games here and has to play and train at the level that challenges him.

I agree with you but I’m not sure other teams will. I can’t at the moment see a Championship team taking him to play as a starter. Playing regularly at League One is probably better than what he’s currently getting.

He’ll get games with us, we’re doing better with rotating players and it’s important we continue doing this, but we’re also still getting injuries with Brewster, Moore and Campbell all getting recent knocks and soft tissue injuries… so there is space for Oné and due to his age I think he is an extra place in the squad. Keeping him playing with players, even in training will be beneficial to him and us.

Bump.

Gone quiet on him?

Started today for Peterborough which suggests not a quick move anywhere

Like I said earlier today, we need pace.

His finishing may be limited but get him as an outlet from the bench coming on against tiring opponents and it will be hugely beneficial for us.
Can't be any worse than Moore.

Google News popped up an article other day that Liverpool are looking at One to buy for the future. £20m and he's theirs.

Sounds like we're still interested but they'd want him to go back to Posh on loan which I'd doubt we'd want but who knows. The other top ten club doesn't sound like ys as we're clearly the first club their Chairman was mentioning and were referred to as "potentially in for him again".

I don't believe a single word that comes out of MacAnthonys huge gob. Look at all the stirring he did with Burrows in the summer. He likes to put things out to generate interest/push the price up of his players, especially those whose contracts are expiring, like RJJ's is in the summer....

Posh in serious danger though of being pulled into a relegation scrap which might indicate why they want him back on loan.....can't see that appealing to us though but it might affect the price Posh will accept....£1m and he's yours now, £500K and we have him back...

Fair point. But they do also produce some really good players and the type of you g players we should be going for. He has also being very complimentary on United post the Burrows deal.

Looks like going to Cardiff
If true do we have a n other target or are we going with what we’ve got plus BBD?

On other thread their man said a deal was agreed last season but fell through. Same party still interested this JTW but a surprise offer came in from top 10 club.

If we were still interested Cardiff aren’t a top 10 club. Or he was lying 🤔

Don’t sit on the fence to Cardiff. We shouldn’t be looking over it and wanted the same players.

Why would we sign a player out of contract in the summer only to loan him out and not play him untill the summer? Only reason I can think of is if we are worried someone else may get him which is maybe why he his bringing up other clubs interest. Not worth spending money unless he will be playing for us this year imo.

Well not really. Obviously when a player is out of contract he becomes more desirable and worth a punt. So it's not necessarily about whether he's got other interest now, it's also about whether he'll have interest in the summer. But yes I agree, it would be daft to loan him back when pacy options off the bench are always useful, even if not the finished product.

Middlesbrough are after him too, it looks like someone will obtain his services in January away from Peterborough.

I’m surprised one of our resident ITKs haven’t mentioned it. 😉😁
