So one positive for me tonight was Holmes.
On the front foot, working hard, trying to make things happen...like how he tried to get past his man and looks to have some quality in his passing/crossing also.

I was half expecting Chris to start with Holmes/Duffy and one up top...but not to be this time.
Looking forward to seeing more from this lad.

Thought exactly the same.
Best debut of all the new players by a country mile. Not that that is much of a benchmark.
Holmes and Duffy could be a very could partnering.

Has a bit of 'urgency' about his play. A livewire no doubt.

Risk taker too. We need to know him, embrace his attitude and understand him.

Just what we need but definitely a risk. That's the name of the game in the final third, not dilly dalliers, urgent risk takers.

Bet Sharp can play with him.

I'm wondering what has happened with Duffy. He was the glue that linked us up. Gave him a new contract and then benched him?

Holmes looks lively and at least prepared to try something. He does have a tendency to throw himself to the ground, which I really do not like whatsoever.

Didn't do much as a sub but today he was great. Great to see someone run at people and try a cute ball occasionally. Just what we needed.

Baptism of fire against Wolves but I think he's going to be a great signing.

It’s an old trick to cut across the player and stop, especially when running down a blind alley with no support/options....didn’t mind it tonight actually.

He had a few off games (for him, still great), don't think its anything really, just trying other options to try and get out of a hole. Started in the cup and didn't do himself any favours though with some of his deliveries. I expect he'll be back sooner rather than later though.

Either that or he's got a knock we don't know about.

Generally, Holmes has a decent reputation, plays well most of the time, and has a decent shot too. Given today's market, we've signed a good player who may improve us. Think the summer is going to be crucial in bringing in the type of players who can respond to Holmes' promptings. The remainder of this season will be interesting.

He may genuinely need a rest but then why is he on the bench? He struggled with fitness at the end of last season. A break could be great for him.

Best player on the park for us tonight, but that wasn't a high bar to clear

What if he’s like Samson ?;)

Morale? If Wilder knows he thinks he's been a bit off it and his head has dropped, getting punted off the team sheet might make it worse. Personal issue? Could be anything I suppose.

Also ran back to make an important clearance!!

He had a good game but seems to be very one footed. There were a few occasions when a United player was in a very good position but he seemed to not want to make the pass because it would have meant using his right foot.

Looked very lightweight to me. And like he was trying a bit too hard to make an individual impression.

Needs to also consider releasing the ball a bit sooner on occasions, but agree a good full debut

I agree with the releasing the ball comment. There was a few occasions where he seemed to take 1 too many touches or just take too long to get rid. Also thought he lost the ball too easily at times however, he does provide a different option & unexpected ideas.

He looked good. He was positive with the ball and difficult to tackle. Thrown in at the deep end but I think he looks comfortable at this level.

He's right footed.

He's right footed.

Watching the game I thought he was a leftie. For me that brings into question his decision making. He seemed to shy away from making certain passes, I obviously assumed this was because of him being left footed.
