Richard Cresswell

I think Cresswell is proving handy against some lightweight centrebacks in a way that Hendo and even say Ward used to be penalised by the Ref. While ever he can get away with it he will be a threat. Like wise our playing of square balls across the box to him.

cresswell is a similar player to hendo with one BIG exception, hes smarter and doesnt get penalised like henderson almost always did, play him up front where he belongs and he will score, last season out left we might as well be playing with 10 men every week, this division is tailor made for a striker of his experience and he could easily get 20+ goals, if mellor at wendy can, cresswell should too.

Glad he scored again, but I thought he looked poor in the air. I can only recall him winning one header and that went astray. Having said that we look much better and threatening when playing it on the floor, so he can't help the service he was getting.

The problem with Cresswell is that Blackwell, Speed and then Adams all decided to play him down the left wing, instead of as a striker.

The result being that he looked slow, immobile and past it on the wing, but stick him up front where he can use his brain, he will score you shitloads with the right service

Will he last the full season though with fitness?

I think he will last most of the season as he is one of those players who doesn't seem to be out permanently injured

Cresswell is also willing to put his head where it hurts. If he can rough up the defenders it takes pressure of Slew/Porter. We do need to make sure we keep playing the ball on the floor as he isn't going to win many aerial battles. If we cab develop that style then Philly can also have an impact on games.
