Best wishes to Richard Cresswell who has announced his retirement from the game as a player due to injuries one of which being his repeat knee problem.

Not many people knew what to expect with Cresswell, in fact I remember the boo boys had a slight dig when he first played for us due to his previous south barnsley connections but he did prove to be a decent enough servant and he gave us a good return in his peak at the lane when many thought it was beyond him, maybe just got a little too much towards the end of his time as a blade.

Never the less best wishes Cressy and good luck with whatever comes next. Hopefully a coaching role due to his time as a player i'm sure he could teach some young uns someone how to find the back of net net.

Was his first contribution for us a brave equaliser against Donny?

All the best Mr Cresswell.

Yes best wishes Cressy, thought he was always a decent player for us, it is a shame about the injuries.
I would like him back as a coach, if he takes up coaching.

Cresswell and Evans is probably the most enjoyable strike partnership I've watched in my life time. Best wishes.

P.s. I'm not old enough to remember Deane and agana before anyone brings that up!

Agree with the sentiment but he was awful when his legs went during his last season with us. Before that he was a reliable as the sunrise.

Well said young man .

He's 36, so he's had a decent career and I assume he's made a few quid. Not many carry on to 40 (unless your name is Ryan Giggs).

We are working at Ryan Giggs new bar in Worsley ,he seems a good bloke ,his Missus is stunning and nice cant believe he looked elsewhere .

cressy probably played 2 more yrs than he should have but good luck to him, nice guy, did a job for us for a bit.

Vastly overrated. Just another journeyman (we have had far too many -and still got some) picking up money at the end of his career. I hope each time one of these journeymen retires someone isn't going to start a tribute thread.

His legs started going the week after he signed a 3 year contract, not quite the same level as when we had him on loan, did score and make a few goals, but at what we were paying him, he should have

yes he bust a rib in that game,in the process of scoring...and played on. Richard strikes me as a genuine professional. He saved the life of the Rochdale keeper at the lane 2 years ago and in 09 10 he got 15 goals inc 4 v qpr, one in all four games we played them in. ..he seems to have had stick for being an ex pig...dont remember, say, geary getting any,nor Alan Quinn.
