Player Suggestion Ricardo Vaz Tê

I couldn't find the right prefix for this as personally it isn't so much a suggestion but a post to gather opinion really.

I hear that Ricardo Vaz Te is back in the country seeking a club and he has just been on trial at Rotherham however they have opted not to give him a contract.

If the truth be said, the player actually has a decent enough record at the level above therefore at 29 years of age he should still be in his prime and a cut above the rest at this level (in theory).

He left West Sham at the beginning of the year and signed for a Turkish, top flight team on a 6 month contract.

I suppose it all depends on what sort of wage demands he is after however if these are reasonable then surely we could replicate the 6 month contract that he had in Turkey on our own terms if only to have a good look at him?

Bit concerning when Rotherham aren't interested in him but, I have to say that if we could pull it off, would be a good signing GreenMan.

It is mate but we have to remember that Rotherham are at this minute in time a league above us. They are struggling and need a certain calibre of player to compete against some very good teams in that league, I personally think that Ricardo Vaz Te could possibly do a job as an impact player in that league but at the same time another part of me wonders where he is currently at in his career, hence my unsure about him verdict.

A player that if we'd signed 2 years ago would have been lauded as a star signing, but now seems to have more red flags than a Chinese Party Conference. Exactly the sort of player we should in theory be avoiding.....but desperate times and all that. There's a player in there somewhere, but it's a pretty large gamble, and says a lot about how the season has gone that it's even being mooted.

Hmmmmm. Player with his best years behind him, hasn't played lately, not in the area we need to prioritise... There's something at the back of my mind that's ringing an alarm bell or two, and it might be the fact that every time we've made similar signings they've generally all been disasters.

Oh I don't know mate. both Marcus Bent and Marlon King did well recently....

....oh hang on.........

No. Played beneath his level at Hibernian a few years back on a short term deal. Looked the mutts nuts, but was soon clear it was only going to be his stage back to the big time. Last thing we need right now is someone playing for himself/contract elsewhere.

I must admit that I'm baffled as to why Rotherham could be so choosey but I suppose we don't know the circumstances. Obviously not worked out for the lad in Turkey but his ability is no secret. I have to say that his name is one of the best suggestions put on here for some time. Nobody seemed interested in Sordell which worked to Colchesters advantage. Could see him ending up back at Barnsley while we dither, look how they have captured Hammill whilst we seem to have signed a bit of a busted flush in Hammond.

Other than right back, I would have thought that up front would be the lowest priorityposition for NA to recruit to given the options already at his disposal.
