Some would appear to suggest that this is bad news for Sharp but he will relish the extra competition and also recognise the benefit of this signing to the football club (he's a blade and will see the bigger picture too). Brewster may well benefit from playing with the likes of Sharp as well. Sharp has been written off many times before but a goal scorer is a goal scorer no matter what age they are. Still our captain and a leader on and off the pitch with plenty to offer still.
plenty to offer a mid table championship team.

Haven’t been this excited about a signing since Paul Shaw

I hope that's not some kind of precedent.

Shaw was a great player, a fan's favourite, but somehow he fell out with the bloke who signed him. Of course famously, this is the same bloke who could start an argument in a phone box. Let's hope CW is a bit more ore accommodating than our last 'big Blade'.

It's a lot of money (though I'm sure it's not close to £23.5m up front) but as a long term investment, it should be worth it. He's a natural goal scorer. He'll get goals at any level. If he scores enough goals to keep us up, obviously it's a bargain. Even if the worst happens, and we go down, he (and McBurnie) should bag 20 goals a piece at that level.

I feel like Brewster is the first instinctive goal scorer we’ve signed since sharp. As much as I think all our forwards have their skills and their strengths I don’t think any of them possess that inbuilt, natural, goal scorers instinct. That ability to just read the game and know where they need to be to get the chance to score. Brewster is young and raw to be sure, and it could all come to naught, but he seems to me to have that same scorers instinct that we’ve seen in Billy over the years that lead him to be the leading goal scorer this century. With training and development, I really think this lad could go on to have a similar goal scoring record to Sharp but with every possibility to do it at a higher level.

He got on my tits a bit. Classy but a bit too clever, he was playing in the championship with championship players, they were never going to read a lot of those little flicks. He’d have had a much better career if he’d adapted his game.

absolutely this!

A tip for everyone. Don’t check this thread for a while. When you do, just go to the latest page. Most pages are people just repeating other people so we can get this thread to 400

I'm sure he can learn a trick or two from Billy as well

Is anyone else struggling to adjust to General now we've been demobbed from Rumour? I've just shown a pair of tits to a passing pedestrian and asked an old fella if he's ITK. This will take time.

To the David Brooks thread! Tally-ho!

Mentioned him on the Possible summer targets thread. I think he could be a very strong loan signing for us. Maybe not ready to be in the starting 11 from day 1, but certainly a real handful from the bench. Pace, power and goals.

From doing a bit of digging seems a couple of Bundesliga clubs are trying to poach him, so Liverpool could be keen to send him out on loan to get some game time and keep him occupied.

Could be a very astute addition.

Take a bow young man ⚔️👍🏻😃

Fair enough, it's all about opinions. I disagree.

I think he was the ball playing midfielder we'd been crying out for and should have built a team around. Warnock obviously fell out with him early on and didn't want to play him any more. Apart from a handful of games at Arsenal, prior to joining us most his game were in the bottom two leagues. Various loans and then spells at Millwall and Gillingham. He left Arsenal in 1997 and had 7 years playing with 'lesser' players before he joined us, so I think saying he was 'too clever' is a bit unfair.
