I don't expect us to be competing with villa. They're in a completely different market, but I expect us to be somewhat competitive in signing players. When it came to Matty cash I wasn't that arsed. In fact I was quite happy we didn't get him as we ended up with two players for the price of one.
So what are you expecting here? For us to overpay for unproven player just to show we can?

I'd also add that Burke isn't an out and out striker. Granted, but looking at past signings id say we are offering below what's required. Top talent id say. Else why would several premier League teams be in for him?
Again you’re speculating. If he’s top talent, why is there only Palace and us?

No. I'm expecting us to be able to strike a deal that doesn't take an age to be agreed. Because the longer it takes, the less likely we are of signing him. Palace are now circling due to the length of time it's taken for the "wheels to move"

Again, pure speculation. For all you know a deal could have been agreed in principle but we’re waiting on Liverpool to get a replacement in.
You also seem to think we’d stolen a march on a player that Palace were linked with right at the start and before we were. He might have no interest in us and be the one dragging it out to see what his options are, only considering us if there’s no better offer.
We also could have moved for all you or I know due to the crazy price, but you’re getting annoyed about it all.
Again, people are making conclusions with very little evidence and no knowledge and winding themselves up when it doesn’t happen as they imagined.

Your right about that I guess. But I don't agree with the palace thing, im saying the opposite thing. They've potentially stolen a march on a player we've been in for all along.

Palace were linked to him right at the end of the season before they got Eze as a potential loan.
Not surprisingly, they were weak up top and he had just scored 1 in 2 for Swansea and was signed for Liverpool. We were still considered to be on for Watkins, Eze, Dennis and others. We were then linked to him, became favourites and now you’re saying they’ve stolen a match on us. All based on media speculation throughout the window which influences tweets, more speculation and ultimately betting odds.
We know we were interested and the clubs have spoken, just as we have with the Arsenal lad. That’s it, that’s all we know.
I get that you’re willing to over pay for him to get it done, assuming that’s what the issue is, but is that something to really criticise the club for?

If we allow Palace to overtake us in this deal after everything then we deserve all we get.

And all CWAK hardworking will have been for nothing.
Danetheblade - and this is where is ends up.
All based on what he’s decided he knows based on selective media speculation, where he’s discounted everything which doesn’t support the view he wants to have.
It happens every year and it’s gets a little tiresome when the WUMs get so many posters worked up over lies speculation and conjecture.

You’re forgetting Liverpool in this. They basically said they wanted to see him preseason and then presumable wouldn’t sell until they had got their targets in. Which assuming it was Jota was yesterday - fair play they are going to do what works for them.

We aren’t going to take other clubs off guard and swoop in. His agent will be touting him also and keeping other clubs involved. All they have to do is match us if we manage to agree a deal.

I can’t believe Liverpool care at all about where he ends up... if they have decided to sell, other than whoever offers now(which won’t be us). I suspect we are hoping they want to keep him but are willing to loan him out. So we have staying in contact. He’ll get sold now imo.

Was always going to be sold when they mentioned a buy back. We've missed the boat on this one I think. Which I hope we've learned not to dick about and be dictated to on our transfer targets in future.

If we do miss out it will show that we have not learned from previous mistakes in transfer windows.

Wilder clearly has had Brewster as his number one target so they should be sorting it out, we are a Premier league club we should not be fannying around like this.

we probably have missed out on him. But there was always going to be interest, it wasn’t going to slip under the radar if Brighton and palace were also interested

His agent would just get in contact and say you need to offer £x - to match any agreement. Then offer more wages

We are alway going to get dictated to when trying to peruse someone’s asset. It’s a separate argument if we had said we would like a deal sorted by x day and then moved on to other more realistic targets once that hasn’t happened.

Don’t believe we will get it over the line now but trust we will bring in a new attacker before the window closes.

So are Liverpool.

Wilder this morning...

Genuinely did not realise they have spent over £100 million yet in fees and wages.
Wage bill 56 million
Berge 22 million
Bogle/Lowe 8-15 million
Ramsdale 10-18.5 million
Burke + 3 million ?

93 -106.5 million by my estimates
