Neither am I.

Undoubtedly favours the bigger clubs with more depth to their squads.

It also favours individual talent and lessens the chances of being successful based on being well drilled/ team formation/ unity.

One of the secrets of Wilders success is playing the same starting 11 most weeks...coaching them so well so they know what to do and where everyone is without looking. If we’re bringing on 5 subs most games it changes the team drastically so there’s less chance of bedding in, familiarity and team structure.
However individual players will be fresher and able to showcase their individual talents better.

This is significant.
I reckon if PL clubs can have 5 subs then Brewster is likely to stay at Liverpool.
If subs remain at 3...then Brewster is likely to be loaned out.

The teeth gave it away, they looked pretty pissed off.

It currently looks like its the best that we can get in to try and improve the forward line, so lets hope that this young lad can do well next season (if he comes in on loan).

Good luck Rhian if you do eventually come in.

Nixon reporting that Liverpool are after Sarr for £40 million, which in turn will give us (and Palace) more reason to think they may be willing to sell Brewster.

Good luck? It's not an ahh bless party, if he come in he's going to have to deliver the bacon.

How does this look the best we can get in? What's the source? Have you had an email from Wilder saying we've not got a pot to piss in and it's either Brewster or Nuhui?

Step away from the cyanide capsules, the window doesn't shut until the 5th October.

The mangers latest statements, with out cyanide:-

CW quotes from end of last season: -

“We can’t stand still in this division”

“We need better players”

“We need more quality at the top end of the pitch”

CW quotes from today's media: -

"We have to be smart and inventive and if it means player trading then it means player trading, if it means loan market then it means loans, if it means free transfers or a couple of small deals then that's the way it's going to be.

"It's not straightforward. The easy part is recognising what you want and who fits the bill, the tough part, especially for us, is getting that over the line."

"Obviously, the numbers are down because of the players we have let go but the players if they are here we will go with that."

That last sentence is very much a Warnock/McCabe type of statement.

Up to you what you make of this?

I don't make much of the emotionally driven quotes taken a few minutes after we got beat 3-1 about us needing better players.

And I don't make much of the quotes today because we are still in the window so it's Schrödinger's transfer window.

At the end of the window, or near the end of it if we've done nothing else, I'll look back to these and conclude we've got nowt, until then I just read them and carry on, knowing we could be a bit skint, or he could be hiding things having complained about lazy recruiters jumping on our targets.

After selling a player (or two) the one I feared hearing from McCabe in a TW was along the lines of funds will be available for the manager in January. Followed by funds to run the club yadayadayada

Nixon reporting that Liverpool are after Sarr for £40 million, which in turn will give us (and Palace) more reason to think they may be willing to sell Brewster.

Nixon in the Sun this morning also reckons if Klopp is willing to sell then it will also encourage the pack chasing to think they have a chance of signing him

I like Brewster, really I do, but when I think about our strikers, game to game, where does he fit in? He’s gonna make 38 sub appearances next year. I just can’t see wilder starting him above burnie. Unless he does something crazy good in his rare appearances, wilder just isn’t going to rely on a 29 year old, especially as he doesn’t even belong to us.

He’s got a lot of mistakes to make, as he’s 20. Will wilder let him do that at the expense of our team? I doubt it, unless he proves to be a game winner. That’s how hendo got the starts he did.

Are you aware we play 2 up top...

I still maintain our forward line doesn’t need drastic reinforcements. It’s the creative gravy train behind them that needs a tune up. Whether that’s through a formation tweak or new recruits

Agreed. I've maintained all along that we probably won't spend big on a new forward, not because the forward like can't be improved, of course it can, but because we have greater need elsewhere (starting with the 'keeper position, of course).

Get the supply line sorted, get Mousset's head right, and the goals will come from the strikers we have. That isn't to say we might not get in a loan or a youngster.

I agree.
When McBurnie and Mousset are at their best I don't think we could get any better! The trick is, getting them to their best, keeping them at their best and making them work together well while maintaining their own performances.

This!
Which is why Brewster as a purchase is a great move but why I have doubts on loan.
Cash would/could/will add a really exciting dimension to our squad with regards to chance creation and with a minor formation tweet we could be surprised with the goals our forwards get.

Oh Dear! Don't like the sound of that.

Completely agree, but that also depends on getting Mousset back to his best and keeping him there. If we do, he is a 15 goal player this season. McB will work his socks off and only keep improving, so perhaps 8-10 goals there. And then we can rely on Sharp and McG chipping in with a few each over the full season. So for me, I think we need 1 more player up top maximum, and ideally someone with pace.

The midfield contributed well with goals last season, so we will also need that again. But as you say, the key is creation of chances, because we don't make enough at the moment.

As much as I would love the moose to play entire season and for everything to be great for him you have to have a plan for that not to happen

that’s why we need another guy, if possible equal or similar to what Moose can give us

On the other hand, he's hardly going to say "We absolutely need better players, at any cost". Plenty of mind games being played here I reckon.

Yes, there could be, CW has used this mindset before?

But, personally I honestly believe that one or two of his targets have slipped away (gone for higher wages, clubs/agents asking for high fees, etc) so he is ready to go with what he has got, with the couple of low risk loans and "left field" small value signings.

You can’t look at a full season with two strikers. Moose at best (based on last season) will only be fit until new year.

we need a New striker and a Didzy replacement
