Day 1026251 of signing Brewster.

Nixon is so confident that we're going to sign him that the deal no longer 'sounds about right' but it 'sounds AND looks about right'.

Drones are being sent to spy on Alan Knill's phone as he chills bollock-naked on a sun lounger in his back garden

An update from someone emerging from the gorse ....

Well, it must have been about half past two in the morning, and just sitting there in the front room, with Carl and Brendan and Adrian. We're just sitting listening to music, drinking tea, talking about the Palace Brothers, Bonnie Prince Billy, that kind of thing. All of a sudden the room fills with a harsh brightness and in barges my sister mob-handed from Cream. She points at the speakers on the stereo and starts chanting: "Shit band, no fans, shit band no fans..."

The year is 2067 and Sheffield United are still interested in signing Brewster from Liverpool to help with their 2020/21 Premier League season. The two clubs have been locked in negotiations for that long that no one has noticed 47 years have passed.

The history records show that Sheffield United actually signed free agent Daniel Sturridge on the last day of the transfer window in desperation. Sturridge was injured on his debut and never played another game. Sheffield United were relegated by 1 goal on the last day of the season (as is the Sheffield United way)

I love CWAK & Prince but if they think that Sharp and Mcgoldrick are going to score the goals that will be needed this season IMO they are wrong. Moose will not play a full 90 all season and McBurnie is not a 15 goals striker. Burke is a BIG gamble so I think we need two more in that area and we will need to buy some proper cash (as is the way with strikers) and even then this is no guarantee of goals.

I'm sure everyone at the club is acutely aware of that....

I don’t think they do believe that’s why they want to recruit at least one more up top....the issue, of course, is whether funds are available. I actually thought Burke did OK yesterday and he and McG were far more of a threat than Sharp and McB.

I thought loan-to-buys weren't allowed?
From conversations on here, obligations aren’t allowed but options are I think? Just had a very brief google and could find anything specific either way

Do you mean as a PL specific rule? Obviously we’ve had those arrangements before when we were in the Championship (Norwood being the key example). I’m not aware of it being used in the PL particularly, though unsure if that’s because the practice is frowned upon or simply because fewer clubs are minded to use it. Abroad, PSG used such a delayed-pay method when they got Mbappé – with a requirement to buy after loan if they avoided relegation (ie a certainty for PSG).

I know they know I am just being synical.

Unfortunately the top of the pitch is the most difficult area to do it on the cheap.

The longer it drags on the more important our results become as regardless of funds if it looks like we will be struggling then top targets will go elsewhere.

That is why it is important to strike while the iron is hot and we finished 9th and our stock is high.

We are not in a position to divert away from the way we make transfers. Between CW and Bettis they have a way of going about things. They always state they do not want to jeopardise the financial security of the club. I don’t believe they would blindly follow a certain way of doing business if this also put the clubs Premier League existence at risk. Let’s hope so anyway.

F off palace I still get shudders when I hear that shitty glad all over song. Be a sad day if he signs for them

  • I think the back end of last season Losses
  • the start of this seasons losses
  • the loss of Hendo
  • the assumed lack of funds
  • the loss of key targets cause we can’t compete
  • last seasons 9th place looking like a mountain
is un nerving the most dedicated supporter. The above adds up and doesn’t bode well. But I’m still hoping Wilder can pull a golden rabbit out of the hat.

You can add giving Billy, Jags, and Rodwell new deals to the list.

From listening to Wilder's interview again "we've not put all our eggs in one basket in terms of one player, so if something does come up we'll have a decision to make".

So multiple bids in, just a case of which one drops first, if any at all. Liverpool or Brewster's agent could be playing hardball over the deal, or we could be reliant on Liverpool signing their replacement first ( I still think it's the latter) Either way, we could be getting close to walking away from the deal very soon and focussing on another.

Seems like we are waiting on Pool to complete their transfer business.

But has he liked any posts about Palace yet ;)

Brewster has started following some of our players and liked that post. Why waste the time if you were not half way through the door here, unless his agent told him to.
