I think KMac is a different player mentally to the one he was with us. Certainly more consistent and a player Wolves and Fulham managers trust.
 



If Wilder thinks he can do a decent job in the Coutts role then I'm happy with that. For what it's worth McDonald is a good player, not too dissimilar to Coutts.
 
K Mc the twat who wouldn't sign a new deal and gave Wilson the run around. Danny Wilson should have fucked him off straight away rather than hang on and hang on for McDonald to sign near the start of the season with a ridiculous get out clause. As soon as Wolves offered him more money he was off leaving us no time to bring in a replacement, then a year or so later he did exactly the same at Wolves. The twat is poison I wouldn't want him near our club hope he meets up with Sordell when they play Burton.
 
Not compatible with our energetic midfield. Good player, not a Wilder player IMHO.

Of our ex-players currently playing I'd take Walker and Maguire back straightaway and consider McDonald in the current circumstances.
Presumably the first two are also mercenary twats as well though.
 
I was gutted when he left but you have to say it was the right decision from his perspective. He left behind a terrible manager in Weir and went to a side that was destined to walk the league. The fact we got robbed was down to one of our classic hilarious contract clauses. Whether he has the attitude to fit in a Wilder team, I don't know. Most of the readings into the psychology of players are purely speculative. He can certainly play the role we want him to play. If his heart were in it, and we could afford him, it would be a no-brainer for me.

I would snatch the trotters off the pigs for Bannan in our side, but I think that's a non-starter. As is Coady. Just the idea that Wolves would sell a starting player to us given league positions and their finances is a joke.

Sadly, this is the JTW, and clubs that know you're desperate get to name their price. I think our best chance is going to be Wilder finding a gem from the lower leagues or a young loan from the Prem.

My understanding was that he was out of contract and wouldn't sign unless we bent over to give him what he wanted - a pay rise and a low release clause. We desperately needed him playing so gave him what he wanted to get him on the pitch, and had to hope no offers came in. "Somehow" Wolves found out they could get him for a tenth of his value, put a bid in, and there was nothing we could do about it.

At Wolves he felt he deserved a payrise, felt insulted by the offer from Wolves, and had a strop until he got a transfer.

Loyalty isn't a trait of his. He doesn't seem to care who he plays for, as long as he's playing on his terms. Quality footballer who would no doubt do the business for the team, but wouldn't do it for the squad or the club.

Was impressed with woods the first time I saw him play full back for Shrewsbury against us at bramall Lane, very very good player, the only downfall being with him fleck and Duffy in a midfield three, we are very much lacking in a physical presence in there. Saying that I think I’d rather see him than McDonald back, he’s had his ten pence worth, leave him where he is.

One thing is certain - Paul Mitchell won't be getting any time off in the coming weeks finding a replacement.

Can't think of ANY decision in the past 20 years that means so much to getting this one decision right......WHO replaces Coutts.

It could define the next 3-5 years of our development - and that means whether we finish top 2 or not.

How we play from now on will be determined by this decision. Is it:

1) we replace Coutts with as near a replacement as possible.
2) Play Lundstram and change how we play.

Firstly, it's unlikely we'd do a deal for financial reasons.

Second, he doesn't fit into Wilder's ethos.

So, it's no chance.
 
KMAC? - not for me.

He doesn't fit into the young, lean and hungry that CW wants.

Just perhaps our management is going to try a PREM club and try and get one of the big six to release someone?

Now that would show ambition.

He was subbed at half time in the man city game if I remember correctly. The issue was he apparently went to the pub to watch the second half and got bladdered.

I never followed him after he left us so can't really comment on whatever went on at Wolves.

As for us, we've been on the wrong side of so many clauses and such that you have to think maybe our negotiating teams haven't been up to scratch.

Walkers a decent enough lad Pedro, but I have little to no interest in anyone not wanting to play for my club. Walker and Maguire were developed by the SUFC. We resurrected McDonalds career and he showed his appreciation al la the Kenny/Williamson style. Anyway, as I say I care little, as he will not be returning to the Lane.

Coutts has been excellent for us for the last 18 months.
But if he was twice the player he would have spent all his career in the Premier League given McDonald has generally played at a higher level.

McDonald had one season (26 appearances) at a higher level otherwise he played in the championship or league one much like Coutts.
 
I think some United fans have short memories, McDonald was excellent in the 11-12 season and made us tick in midfield, similar to what Coutts has done for the last season and a half. I've seen recent comments on this board about us being a one man team (Ched) in 11-12, but McDonald was every bit as important to that team, he had a spell out around March time and we weren't the same team.

I wouldn't be disappointed if we got McDonald in as Coutts replacement, if Wilder gets him up to the level of 11-12 then performance wise there's no problem there.

He was suspended for 5 yellow cards, he's started all but one game before that. I don't want him back, but you're talking bollocks.

In the 11/12 season he went off the boil in October and spent November on the bench except for a couldn't be arsed appearance in the JPT. That lack of effort if he doesn't feel like it is why he's not a Wilder type.

I'm sure Wilder also showed interest in Ben Watson he can't get a game at watford . Would prefer Adam but hoping Lunds will do it . Give him a run in the side which is full of confidence and I reckon he's got the tools just needs games.
