Following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign, Sheffield United's official retained and released lists have been submitted.

Phil Jagielka, John Lundstram, Simon Moore and Jack Rodwell will depart the club when their contracts expire this summer, as will youngsters Ashton Hall and Tommy Williams.

Ethan Ampadu will return to his parent club, Chelsea, following his season-long loan.

The club wishes all the departing players best wishes for their future endeavours and would like to thank them for their service to Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, Kean Bryan has been offered new terms.
Very happy about Bryan being offered terms.

Think he would be a great option at LB if Slav plays 4 at the back as expected

Than you Jags and best of luck for the future. This was the lineup for his debut against Swindon in May 2000, when he came on as substitute.

Interesting about Kean Bryan being offered a new deal. Considering we already have Jackie Longtrhrow contracted for another year (yes, he was very good for the final few games) and we have Enda, Lowe and RND as left side defenders, what is this telling us about JO’C?

Is JO’C going to be fit for the new season?

Is he going to prove some level of fitness and then leave in the JTW - hence Bryan is essential cover for Robinson?

Does he have to leave to drive Lunny to wherever he needs to go to, now?

It’s a huge risk to get rid of Bryan, then JOC breaks down again. You’ve got Jackie Longthrow for the whole season. No thanks.

Yeah quite happy about Bryan getting a new deal. Shown he has something about him at least and might make a good fullback if not a LCB should he change formation.

Now we just have to wait for Barcelona to announce Lundstram.

I wish Simon Moore and Jags the best.

Rodwell was a waste of a wage and squad place, probably not his fault but he's obviously not the kind of footballer who really wants to play football. Quite content to just sit a contract out on decent money.

Lundstram, not in the slightest bit unhappy about this, miserable bastard. I hope he ends up rotting in someone else's reserves the big time bastard.

All the best to all of them, wasn't Rodwell's fault he was injured, not sure why Wilder gave him an offer but he must have felt he would offer decent cover. Lunny's situation will eventually come out, we've heard recent accounts from Martyn Woolford and Dean Hammon from Sheff Utd way that offer their side and you realise it's not quite as it might seem.

Sad that Jags goes in some ways, hope he does well in coaching if he goes into that. Regarding Bryan, bit surprised in a way, but he has shown potential and in the Championship I think he may be reasonable, although I'd prefer Robinson. Hoping JOC is fit like everyone else, maybe Bryan signed as cover.

to be honest as much as i dislike lundstram for the total lack of effort hes put in this season theres only 1 man to blame and thats chris wilder for continually playing him but good riddance to him anyway can see him ending up where he started in league 1

Personally feel a bit sorry for Lunny. Yes he's an adult and should have more about him, but he obviously took some shitty advice from his agent and then decided to stick to his guns - Just look at Duffy's experience to see where JL's career could go.... Wilder and Hecky both, repeatedly, stated that Lunny was the consummate professional around the club. Just managed to paint himself into a corner and never hit those Fantasy League highs of 2019/20. Not bothered he's gone mind as his performance levels have continued to tail off over this season.

Those highs were only because he was down as a defender and not a midfielder…

he shouldn’t have mixed up notoriety with ability

Personally don't think Bryan will sign, can see him getting a move to either a Premier league team as a squad filler on more money or a championship team who have guaranteed him a starting place every week.

Offer has probably been in since Wilder was here, we wouldn't be going into the last third of the season without offering him anything. If he was signing it he would have done by now.

I doubt anyone will be let go for free, might as well make some money on them even if it’s just to top up the tea fund

Suppose it'll come down to money, loans out and wages. If SJ want's an overhaul there'll need to be noses put out of joint or people shipped out on Loan to free up squad places.

Anyone know the squad size for EFL? Same as PL or larger? Also, what about the benches etc?

I'm amazed more haven't been released given last years appalling efforts.
I am amazed you cannot wait for Jokanovic to made his decision on which players will have their contracts terminated by mutual consent. Remember Hammond took the option of extending the contract before Wilder made the decision for the club to "pay off" his contract?
