In some ways the results were good for us as it means we can go top if we win the next 2. On the other hand, the weekend also saw the green shoots of recovery for Wigan and Bradford after poor starts (probably the only 2 teams who have the firepower to match us- think Cole will be a very good signing for Bradford). It also just saw our next opponents go and get a fantastic, morale-boosting victory away at the league leaders. I think more than anything, it just shows how unpredictable the league is gonna be.
Re Gillingham not sustaining it- I don’t recall people saying Bristol couldn’t sustain it last season. I think they were identified all along as our biggest threat in the race for promotion (along with Preston).
I think a more relevant comparison is Tranmere and Orient and look where they both are now. However, I do rate their manager and whilst I don’t think they’ll maintain a real top 2 challenge, I certainly wouldn’t bet against them getting in the top 6
