I hate it when they have 2pm kick offs.

They beat Macclesfield 4-1 away yesterday - goals from Travis, Tahar and a brace from Robertson.

Report from MTFC:

The reserves went down 4-1 this afternoon to Sheffield United in their latest Central League fixture.

Fielding a very young team, the Silkmen were put under a lot of early pressure by the visitors who took the lead as early as the fifth minute. Struggling to adapt to the sharper passing game of the Championship side, it was no surprise when the lead was doubled on the quarter hour mark, with a third coming on 35 minutes.

The second half however was a totally different affair as the Silkmen, which Jordan Hadfield thriving in his role as captain, enjoying far greater possession. Despite putting the Blades' defence under a lot of pressure, it was not until the 70th minute that the reward came, Hadfield on hand to coolly slot the ball past England Under 19 keeper Jamie Annerson in the United goal.

Hadfield received warm applause from those in attendance when he was replaced by Luke Perry five minutes later. But despite another spell of pressure it was the visitors who grabbed the all important next goal with just five minutes left to play.

"Considering how young a side we had out there I was delighted with the way we stuck to our task," said Keith Alexander. "We were overrun a bit in the first period but in the second half I was delighted with both the performance and the quality of football we displayed.

"Whilst we want to win every game we play, results aren't the be all and end all. I place more importance on the performance and the lads will have learnt a lot today against a club two tiers above us in the Football League."

I like the suggestion that our team contained a wealth of experience when in fact the oldest player in our team is probably about 20 years old :)

Annerson, Walker, Roe (Chapman 64), Travis, Chanot, Lowton, Tahar, Robertson, Adams (James 71), K.Quinn. Unused subs: Billard, Smith, Chappell.

They did very well too, considering they only had ten men in the starting line-up.
