The very first time we went to the Lane most of us would have been young kids some would have been late starters but the one thing we all had in common was the butterfly feeling in the gut the heart racing the anticipation then from the tunnel be it the old John Street Stand or the later South Stand the crescendo of noise that hits you everyone ecstatic as the red and white stripes appear in view. In the old days the toilet rolls flying toward Hodgy as he races toward the kop with his usual salute or today Ramsdale running toward the same Kop to a tumultuous reception for his later performances and his loyalty to our club.
Now after what’s happened to us all over the last eighteen months emotions will flow tears will be shed it’s like we are reborn watching the Blades for the very first time.

Saturday 7th August 2021 Heart thumping butterfly feeling then the red and white stripes appear everyone going ballistic no words are possible we are all emotional so much we think back in that fleeting moment of euphoria of all the people that didn’t make it our friends our relatives our loved ones and of course some fellow Blades.
so when the Blades come out my lovely fellow Blades roar and roar like you have never roared before we are one hell of a family
Bless you all everyone xx

My first was a 5.0 loss to Oldham. It got better quickly over the next few seasons.
I still get the butterfly feeling when the teams come out.

3 1 v Ipswich Town, August 1974.
BLUT and that Tony Field goal, one of two from him to join a Mick Mills own goal. Sorted my lifetime allegiance, largely due to Alan Woodward.

Cannot remember exactly my first football match, but the first time to The Lane was to watch cricket.
But reading most of the threads and posts over the last couple of months and with all the arguing and snipping that’s been going on, it feels like a lot of people have reached their limit and are ready to explode. So let’s all treat tomorrow like it’s our first visit and get rid of this built up tension and let it all out and roar the lads on. UTB.
Enjoy the experience.

0-0 with Birmingham in 1997. Can’t remember anything about the actual football match. I do recall just being mesmerised by the signing on the kop though. It wasn’t something I was expecting (not sure why as I’d seen games on tv). I caught the bug straight away though and whilst we didn’t have a season ticket that first year, I think we only missed the midweek home games thereafter (my dad worked away during the week at the time).

Three days later Steve Bruce wa a Champions league pundit on ITV.
He sported a shiner.
He said " Brian Deane did that to me on Saturday." 🙀🤣

Can’t remember my first game. I know my first proper season was 1978 at 7 years old where I probably went to all the home games

Was the River Plate game before the Orient one? Remember both fairly well.

Whether my dad tested the water by taking me to any before thst then I really can’t remember.

I know I was hooked pretty much straight away, can’t explain the feeling as a young lad other than knowing I belonged there.

Loved getting onto the kop at 2pm, standing in the top right corner watching the kop slowly fill up whilst looking down into John Street to see how many were outside, by standing in the very top corner you could see a bit of the road outside

Remember being equally fascinated by big away followings, masses of Newcastle and Sunderland fans with their scarfs around their necks and feeling nervous walking past them but also slightly excited.

43 years on I will still be getting that same buzz in 2 days time.

Love our incredible club.

63:64 ? John street with my Grandad night match Fulham old div 1 all a blur really but some will know the facts
Winning 3 or was it ( I was 7/8 ) 2-0 lost 3-2 or was it 4-3 … football gods giving me an early warning maybe

To be fair it's not very often someone signs on the kop it's usually done in the manager's office or occasionally pitch side if it's an academy prospect , which player was it that signed ?

I’ve only just had my coffee, leave me alone 😆.

Blades 2 Everton 2, Oct 1974. Dearden & Woody for us & Lyons & Buckley for them. 2-0 up at HT. BLUT.

COYRAWW!!!!

It was 11th May 1968, division 1 v Chelsea. Had to win to stay up, leading 1-0 lost 2-1 got relegated. It's the Blades Way, nothing really changes.

I first started going at the start of the 72/73 season as I was starting school and deemed old enough, but can't remember my first match specifically.
What I can remember is walking up the gangway steps on John Street and seeing the inside of Bramall Lane, stands and pitch, for the first time and being in complete awe of it all.
I still get that feeling for the first home game of every season after the summer so this time, after the longer break, I think it will be a bit special.

My dad said my first match was in 1966 (before the World Cup). My earliest memory of being at Bramall Lane was I was sat in the BLUT and we had just scored in the Lane End, a bald man (probably Bill Punton), ran from the left to congratulate our scorer so that was probably in 1967
Same season for me. Blades 0 Blackpool 1, Easter Monday 1966. I still have the programme.

think that would be the game in 68 night game 2 up and lost 2 -3 that was the game that really did for us that season

2-2 against QPR in 1997, I seem to remember QPR scoring a last-minute equaliser.

I have vague memories of us losing at home to Luton in my first game. I left with the classic thin striped shirt with no sponser (anyone know why they didn't have sponsors?). According to 11v11 it was in the FA Cup in 1991.

I'm really hoping this is the year I can get my boy to Bramall Lane for the first time, so can I ask everyone to avoid the home game against Blackpool (2nd November) so that we can get tickets?!l

Vague, but before we sold Jones and Birchenall.
Now, might be selling Rammers and Berge just as we think we're going to do ok.
Leopards, spots.

We played Oxford United. I don't remember much of the game, we went to the Earl before the game and my dad piled me with sweets from a newsagents before.
