Do you think we can stay up?

It pains me to say it, but today was massive for us, and we didn't rise to it.

I see nothing else but League One football next season to be perfectly honest, and the current crop won't be good enough to pull up trees in that either.

I'll tell you after Tuesday - my dad is going to text me the good or bad news 'cos we're in New York

We all hope we can perform a miracle and suddenly play differently to the first 30-odd games.
But I think in a lot of hearts we know that we've brought this on ourselves and, in a sense, the club deserves to go down.

Difficult to argue with that post. It just about sums the whole situation up.

There's always hope of a kind I suppose, but if you're not including the "Vorders, Rachel, what on earth are you both doing in my bed" type of hope, then it's a no from me too.

Is it only me that never has a clue what raul is on about?

We were shit today. Palace really were one of the most inept sides Ive ever seen us play and they beat us. For all the bollocks about hotels, foreign clubs and top half of the Premier League, Kevin McCabe will have taken United from the Second to the Third Division as Chairman.

Why is there always someone willing to burst every sodding balloon?

There are too many shitty things happening in this world to let a (another) defeat affect your outlook on life, time for a reality check for some on here. (I've been supporting the Blades since the late 70's so I can remember some other bad times too). At 119 mins into the Everton Chelsea game today who would have thought that Everton would have made it thru? Its never over till the fat lady sings!

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that losing to the team on the other side of the drop zone was a fucking balloon! I assume that with our 2 shots on target, it was one of those helium-filled ones, that allow you to talk funny... doubling your fun!

I wasn't there at the game today. Can anyone confirm for me that the half-time entertainment was none other than Montserrat Caballé?

Not only do I think we'll go down, but I think we're a decent bet not to win another match this season.

As long as we have a manager who says he's pleased with today's performance and blathers on about pride, effort and commitment instead of systems and tactical changes, we're fucking doomed. And we will drop even further until someone finally gets around to ditching this running around and sweating a lot bollocks and starts putting some actual football back into this club. It's nothing more than pathetic at the moment, it's certainly gone beyond laughable.

Fuck! Did I say running around? I apologise, must be the wine. This lot haven't got a run in 'em.

'fraid yesterday saw us plant one foot firmly in the Third - with next Tuesday almost certainly seeing the other foot joining it.
Just look at yesterday - Palace won, Scunthorpe drew, even Preston drew with the top team, Middlesborough won away and even Bristol City only lost to a late ever-jammy Leicester.

We're 5 points adrift and I can see where another 5 points will come from this season. From what I saw/heard of yesterday, we tried but - once again the skill and killer touch wasn't there.

With every game, it seems MA is massively out of his depth (hence calling in Bassett).

We're going down and quite frankly, we deserve to. The die was probably cast when we lost 4-0 at home to Scunthorpe. Watching Forest v Cardiff shows how far we've regressed. Both have narrowly lost out in recent years but - unlike us - didn't panic and rip the team apart. And I keep reading about us suffering the price of over-extending ourselves in recent years. Utter balls. So we had one quality player (Beattie) but we hardly 'lived the dream' like Leeds. Half a dozen clubs at this level have invested far more than us.

Truth is, we were remarkable well-cushioned with the Tevez money, the selling of the Kyles, £22m parachute payments, even around £3m from Wembley (remember, Burnley forfeited their gate receipts). Shocking waste, Mr. McCabe.

Agree ,one win will give untold confidence on and off the pitch. Two wins and we are back in the mix, we aren't the only side on a terrible run ,and with a bit of luck we are better than 3 or 4 of them.

And the win in question will come from where? And the second win, the one that we'll need to overtake Palace, assuming that they lose one in their next two, where will that come from?

The teams around us are showing fight, the results yeterday showed that, and because of that they'll pick up points. We on the other hand went to a team that we could have caught, and a team that really aren't that good and we showed nothing. No quality, no desire, nothing but an acceptance that we're just not up to it.

Not a pop, just a realistic observation that unless teams lay down and die for "poor old Sheffield United", then we'll be lucky to win two more games all season.

As to the question well no, we can't avoid it. I think as far back as getting hammered at home by Scunny put the writing on the wall, if you were prepared to peek from behind the rose tinteds for a minute or two that is.

She's already finished the song.;)

I cant see us ever scoring a goal in open play again, so no, were down.

We have scored 2 goals in the last 5 games and both goals have been from penalties. So your assessment doesn't look too far fetched!
