Relax!

The good times for me were the mid sixties for two years and the early seventies. Doing OK now I s'ppose

I'll relax a little, when we have a cushion of more that 3points, meaning we can afford a slip up without relying on other teams doing the same.

If I was anymore relaxed I'd be wearing a wooden overcoat! As for the blades, well, we never ever do it the easy way.

got the tshirt, hat and the rest ......seen most of it with The Blades......kicked in the balls more times than I care to remember ............ BUT bet yer house on us going up ...........IT'S WRITTEN.

Not the best times ......but deffo the good times.

I agree. I think us and Charlton will have sown up auto promotion with 2 games to go based on my own predictions. Not worth anything of course, but i'm entitled to guess like the rest ; ) I also think we'll just miss out on winning the league by a point or goal difference.

I just keep on praying we go up, been let down too many times to believe just yet. Sorry Danny boy.

After yesterday, and looking at the remaining fixtures, I'm starting to believe :)
I second that :) To have the penalty go for us and ultimately gain us the three vital points was quite surprisig in a way - I mean, how many times have we seen (and not just this season) it happen for other teams and we sit there wondering why it never happens to us? Well alleluia! And it couldn't be happening at a more crucial time too...

I suspect it will, I also suspect that we will have a chance to sew it up against Stevenage and only draw...

I think we will clinch promotion against Stevenage. I fully expect them to have nothing to play for by then and they will be on the proverbial beach.

If that did happen it would be the first time we had sewn up promotion at the Lane since 1971. The last 5 promotions were either won away (1989, 1990) or won on the basis of other team's results (1982, 1984, 2006).

That would be nice - and in a way, I'm hoping 'fate' will prove you right mate. We ain't gonna be able to get to the Exeter match and to have promotion 'sewn up' by then anyway would make it much more 'relaxing' for such a long-distance away game. Also to clinch promotion at the Stevenage game, live in Sky to boot, would be a superb 'home' end to a pretty good season all in...

So hope you're right Darren :)

these are the good times.

So "the good times" only follow the absolutely shite times McCabes serves up.

These are the "Pah !! only getting back where we should be times"

Twelve years in charge and we might be back where we were, maybe

Beighton = Tool

If everyone plays to their potential it will require a Wycombe defeat and an Exeter win on the last day of the season.;)

next 2 will sort it out
An owls draw, which normally would be a good point will , with our win over form bereft Bournemouth, will put us 4 points head , and with our superior gd thats 2 full wins ahead of the porksters. or 40% of the games left.
Huddersfield winning their game in hand on tuesday in someways works in our favour as itll fire them up v the pork Rind stone cowboys ,the loss at Carlisle was all we needed to keep them at arms length
then we have rochdale while oinksters face resurgent Carisle

Yeah I reckon the Cumbrians will turn the Porkers over, they've got Charlton in a fortnight. The title could still be on!

I also suspect (I do waaaaaayyy too much suspecting) that Wednesday will drop points against Brentford which will see us go up...

Wednesday play Oldham on Easter Monday, not Carlisle.

They play Carlisle when we play at Franchise FC.

Can you refresh my memory about 1982?
I was under the impression we clinched promotion by beating Peterborough 4-0 at home.
Hence our chants of "We're going up, we're going up, you're not, you're not".
Isn't that the case?

Nope. We won promotion on Wednesday 5th May when Hereford beat Peterborough (who were 5th) 2-1, meaning the latter couldn't catch us.

It had been a 5 horse race (us, Wigan, Bradford, Bournemouth and Peterborough) for the 4 places since around mid March. Any one of the 5 could have dropped out - if memory serves there was never more than 3-4 points seperating the pack - until we won 4-0 at Peterborough on 21/4/82. After that, Peterborough collapsed and by the time we played them on that home game on 8/5/82, whilst they still had a slight mathematical chance, they had more or less blown it. Our 4-0 win confirmed promotion for the other 3 I believe.
