O Neill wont come here. Not high enough profile.
And isnt he going to becomme the new NI boss?

Ive a suggestion & it probably wont be a popular one at all.

Id make King captain.
He puts himself about & speaks his mind.
yes hes a cunt off the pitch. But i couldnt care less.

Of course, David Weir has come from a major football club in Everton where all the players, right through to the youngsters, are probably highly motivated just because they play for Everton.

Whatever we think of whether a player should be proud to pull on the red and white stripes or not, I suggest that to most footballers these days, we truly are just another team to play for that's paying their wages.

That attitude won't help DW and I bet he's never come across it before when in a coaching capacity.

That does not mean we ought to bring the annoying old man back..but then don`t put it past mccabe, even though he hates him..after all, bassett was the chief headhunter during the summer..youve got dinosaurs..and youve got Bassett.......

Malky Mackay
Things going tits up in the *diff back room so I hear.
He would be the gnads for us

I'm not saying we should bring him back now, I just thought your assessment was a little harsh on a man who did overall, quite well for us.

Over rated ? fuck me have you watched us since he left ?

We are screaming out for a Warnock and Page team right now. People seem to only remember Warnock back in 2006 yet forget how his teams at Palace and QPR played.

Yes , too often sitwell. warnock; dinosaur. old. arrogant. washed up. washed out. long ball. thick. pig headed. dinosaur.
Little harsh considering what we achieved under Warnock, the biggest achievment being promotion to the Premiership.

Every manager since then has done wonders haven't they?

Why, when we have the resources of the Sheikh and McCabe?

O'Neill would have to operate within the fair play regulations, just like everybody else, and with the money provided.

Now I am not saying he would take the job, and it would be very surprising if he did, but he would be my number one choice.

Also; don't swear it is rude, even if you apply some algebra to the swearing ;)

HH

I forgot the smiley :)

Seriously though, just because we now have money doesn't mean that we should go wild and spend spend spend. Have we learnt nothing from Robson and the years that followed? Spending on high wages hasn't exactly got us forward.

I'd rather have a manager that can put a quality side together

Yeah, I haven't seen many teams as motivated as his England U21 side.
The only reason I'd want that idiot at the Lane is if it was for Bradders to kick his arse again.

I just had a sudden partial flashback.
Didn't Alan Shearer literally kick Bradshaw up the bottom in one match because he couldn't get past him?
I seem to remember the ref giving him a very stern talking to while we all chanted "off!, off!, off!".
Somewhere near the corner flag between The Kop and John Street. Or did I dream it?

As I understand it the new approach is that Weir is in a chief coach type role with new prospective players who fall within a certain type (pass pass pass)scouted over a period of time and Weir has a say but not the only say if/when they are bought. The team plays to a formula and coaches may come and go but the formula stays the same and ensures consistency of approach over time. Blah blah. This gets us away from over reliance on individual 'personality ' managers who want thir own style and players.

If the new co owners have bought into this then it presents a dilemma now clearly things aren't working out. I can't see the likes of Pulis or Warnock accepting anything other than full control over team affairs.
So does the club do a u turn or stick to the guns, maybe replacing Weir with another patsy??

I have said the exact same thing to my mates.
Cant do any worse than MRS Doyle

All we need is ...experience, someone with a working knowledge of starting from the ground up, we hit a low as a club in May missing out in the play offs and reaching a new financial reality, we had to play at being paupers.

What we are crying out for is someone with a minimum of 10 years of football management , not bothered who , theres some out there , to get us moving forward, it doesnt have to be pep guadiola just yet , we can sort that out when we are back in the champonship, just someone who carries a bit of respect and nous, enough to get us out of this division the right end and consolidate in the championship, thats all our focus should be right now.

Or was it Mark Hughes? The butt kicker supreme!

Hughes booted David Tuttle in an FA Cup tie if memory serves. Alex Ferguson mentions it in his autobiography; "I thought it was a harsh red until I saw the replay, Hughes almost removed Tuttles testicles!" Or words to that effect

It was a FA Cup game against Man Ure in the 93-94 season. They won 1-0 and Hughes kicked David Tuttle (Bishop Brennan style) up the arse to get a red card. One of the funniest things I've seen at a game :)

That does ring a bell. Did Shearer and Bradshaw have some sort of altercation also or did I imagine it?

Bradshaw was sent off the following week when we played Blackburn at the Lane after a set to with Shearer. Cork also went that day. We lost 2-1.

I didn't mind Shearer at all until that game, when my opinion of him (as a player) changed completely.

A few England goals changed it back again.

I couldn't stand Shearer, trying to kill Tracey (I think) only for Andy Gray to comment 'I hope Shearer hasn't injured his knee' and of course getting off Scot free after kicking Neil Lennon in the head.

I remember a lady blade phoning up sky sports phone in and showing up andy gray for that fu kin disgraceful comment

You missed out Successful

Depends on what you consider successful, doesn't it.
One promotion in eight years followed by an immediate relegation.
I remember Carlisle and Northampton doing the same thing in the First Division.
It's not a good word, successful, really, in this context.
