A lot of mistakes from the ref again today.

- blatant handball outside bix from their keeper

- blatant simulation from their player looking for a pen

- blatant elbow/hand in coutts face

There were a few others that i cant recall off the top of my head.

Who gives these clowns a job?

The Coutts elbow was two foot in front of the linesman if that and he still didn't see it!!! Muppet.

There were so many handballs all over the pitch from both sides. Foxy, if you were in the John Street tonight bet you saw the JMc one near the end? How did the linesman not give that?

Ref was brilliant tonight. Let the game flow, ignored things on both sides didn't go wistle happy. It's a bloody mans game, gerron wi it. If ref had been blowing every nudge, accidental hand ball etc we would have been moaning. He let them get on with it and it was balanced. Ignored Holts pathetic dive in the area, goalie picking up outside area was down o Lino who didn't get back quick enough, Davies forearm on copenger went unpunished etec etc. We won stop moaning

It was the linesman on the south stand side. ball went out for a throw in, he didnt even put his flag up he left it to the ref

Shocking ref and the keeper was way outside the box.

Although not sure he booked anyone for anything.

Donny keeper was quite clearly outside the box and the linesman was right in line with it. Christ knows how he didn't see it.

Hate to disagree, but my seat is dead in line with the edge of the box and to say the keeper handled "Way Outside" is not true.It was tight and if anything the ball was on the line. If the ref had given that against us, I would have been fuming! Thought the ref had a decent game and we got away with quite a lot tonight. Coutts was VERY fortunate that he didnt see him deliberately run his studs down the back of Coppingers calf off the ball....and I think had he not waved away our appeals for handball in the 1st half, he would have given Brayfords' at the end.

How the hell we hung on I'll never know but maybe its our turn for a little bit of luck for once.

Agree, and one for the first things you learn at ref school is that the line is part of the area and if the edge of the ball is 1mm over the line its in! So many times people around me claim the ball went out when the centre of the ball crosses the line, annoying.

Thought ref had a decent game tonight if I'm honest, thought he was about to blow for a Donny pen, thought better of it !Game flowed and great result in the end, but we were hanging on!

It looked out from where we were sat on Kop, but because of the angle I needed the opinion of anyone sat in line, thanks Cutbush

I point this out endlessly to people but never thought till now how does it apply to the ball being in or out of the area?

You can argue it both ways.

1) If the RHS of the diagram is the penalty area, then only D is in the area.

2) If the RHS is the rest of the field of play then only D is out of the area.

1) and 2) can't both be true.

I was sat in the south stand directly in line with the penalty area. On the basis of Blade56's analysis may be the linesman was right if the ball is "in the area" if 1 mm is over the line. It was very tight. Does the linesman have to be sure the ball was in the area or does he have to be sure the ball was outside. Presumably it is the latter.

Blade56 is right I believe, ANY part of the ball over the line. And given the consequences for the keeper, I think your second supposition is the right one.

I thought that was the most consistent refereeing performance we've seen all season, mostly letting evergthing go (fouls, handballs, pushes, dives, off the ball clashes).

We sit roughly in line with that 18 yard line and it looked out to us. Although we are on the back row.

Looked out to us, very close to being in line.- unless it was an optical illusion.

The second thing you learn at ref school is most of the officiating rules start "in the referees opinion" without technology checking throw ins, pick ups, etc he can't be "sure". I wouldn't want that level of technology holding the game up although I do support goal line technology.

The ref & the clown on the south stand sign were useless. They were falling over constantly & couldn't wait to blow his whistle. They challenge us n it's play on. and the Bywater hand ball,Cmon.. They need a specsavers appointment

According to Donny fans, ref was a homer! Nowt as funny as footy fans, eh?

The 1st rule of ref school: you do not talk about ref school.

So the referee's assistant probably blocked your view? :D

Seriously, looked about a foot out to me. His feet were just inside the box but he appeared to reached out to gather the ball. As others have said, his body language spoke volumes.

Just one incident of many that the officials seemed to get wrong. However, if I was a visiting fan, I'd feel aggrieved about the overall decisions given last night.

What would have happened if it had been given? Presumably, as Bywater beat Done to the ball and a defender was in the vicinity as well it would have been a free kick and a booking to Bywater. A red card would have been very harsh there.

You could see the green of the grass between the 18yard box and the ball in the Bywater incident. The fact he looked at the ref he knew he handled it

This. Looked totally clear to me in the Kop. His body language told me that he knew he'd fucked up too.

As Guesty says, I think it would have probably only been a yellow. A red would have been harsh IMO.
