Was it just me or was the ref crap last night.
"I'm on tele let me be the star" attitude?

Alan Wiley is an awful referee and last night was no difference.

How we got 6 bookings and they got 2 I'll never know. Every time we made a mistimed tackle it was a booking immediately. Wednesday players on the other hand were given a "calm down" warning first.

Davies early tackle is a case in point, he got the sodding ball.

To be fair to the ref, there were a fair few reducers going in last night

Were there? Monty's yellow was a mistimed tackle. Davies' yellow was a good effort where he got the ball. I usually watch a game live and get angry at the ref, but then later on reflection realise I've been a little OTT. Last night I was as livid when I watched it back.

O'Connor could well have gone for two bad tackles in the space of 5 seconds.

a mistimed tackle if a genuine attemt to play the ball should not receive a card. ie monty, other wise every tackle where the result is free kick and ball not won should receive a yellow,. ie kyle walker on the Angle of the box twice second half.
Monty on the other hand twice taken late from behind on the run centre circle plays a reasonable ball both times ref plays advantage move fizzles out. both those tackles were worse than his mistmed one, Yet one of our so called top refs hasnt got the intelligence to go back and book the wendie player at the next dead ball.

Alan Wiley reminded me of a pack of cards last night.

His heart wasn't in it,he wasn't ace,he wasn't a diamond,he primped around like an old queen,he was 'king awful,he hated our club and you could have done with a spade to bury the twat...

was it just me or did it seem like he was trying to even up the game. he gave them every 50 50 decision.. just like they do in the premiership..they take sides.. aaaw they're losing three nil. i'll give them a free kick .. its like playing yourself at subbuteo when you were a kid.. 'and they make a miraculous recovery!'.. i've gone hoarse screaming abuse at him (see other thread)

O'Conner should of gone having seen the highlights.

Also Buxton could of easily been sent off for a challenge in the 2nd half.

Not sure about that BUT Wiley was bloody quick off the mark with yellows to man in red and white stripes. We we really 6 times a dirty as them I think not. Will we get a fine because of 6 yellows by the way?

This. How he didn't get sent off I don't know. If it wasn't for him commiting the second offence, I don't even think Wiley would have booked him.

Wiley appeared to be very biased against the Blades throughout. All the neutrals in the Bar said the same. He is not prolific normally at dishing cards out but to give us 6 was ridiculous. Wednesday did some really bad challenges without incurring free-kicks against. But every tackle we made you waited for the inevitable whistle. I used to think they had it in for Neil Warnock, so why is it still the same?

Another match, another terrible referee. Did they say anything on TV about him?

We seem to get useless ref after useless ref these days, it's very rare when the post-match main topic isn't the referee. I know that sounds like excuse making or paranoia but this past couple of seasons I genuinlly think the ref has been decent/impartial/competent in less than 1/3 of all our home matches.

The commentators thought that Davies was unlucky to receive a card and the replay showed that he took the ball in the tackle.
Yet again Henderson was pulled up for fouls time after time when he challenged for the ball but Tudgay also challenged physically with his opponent often climbing on the players back but was not penalised.

Last night at the game live I didn't think he had that good a game but having watched back this morning, he actually got most decisions just about right. He had no choice with Monty's booking as this is a compulsory booking under Laws. O'Connor was lucky. Should have had two yellows!

I thought the Cotterill card was the worst; all he did was hold back the guy for a second but it was worthy of a yellow. O'Connor's tackles were shocking; I watched the game again today and was still angry when I saw that one. Surprised Monty didn't nut him.

He looked like he wanted to but behaved rather well and composed himself, I doubt that would have been same from their players had roles been reversed, however if it was our players they would have been sent for an early bath as they say.

And don't forget that Wiley (Wigan v West Ham last week) gave Spam a free kick which was promptly hit upfield for Wham to score (Cole).
The referee promptly disallowed it as he'd 'blown for half time.'
In anyone's book this was shocking refereeing (why not blow for half time instead of allowing the free kick?). On the other hand, maybe these 'top' referees have their own agenda...

Wiley was introduced on sky just before kick off as "the best referee in the Premiership", hate to see the rest then, personally i felt for henderson, got pulled up at the slightest physical contest resulting in a gaggle of wendy players surrounding wiley and complaining about laddered stockings and pulled eyelashes.

My favourite bit of refeering was Tudgay running 40 yards to the TV camera after scoring and removing his shirt, a nailed on bookable offence (Leon Best was booked for the same thing after scoring against us on Tuesday). Wiley, however, ignored this, busy as he was booking Bunn for "unsporting behaviour", which as far as I could work out was the crime of kicking the ball out of the net...

can anyone remember the last time we had a decent ref at one of our games ?

He then went and booked Tudgay after Bunn...

Did he? I stand corrected then - although in my defence the BBC report missed it as well!

Yeah Wiley booked Tudgay just before we kicked off. I saw it had been missed off the report but I saw Wiley book him so it will have been recorded.
