Most of them in this league are absolutely crap, and he was no exception.

Gave them every 50/50 until the last 20 minutes or so. The slightest touch on them and the whistle went. The same the other way and he just stood and watched.

Like I say he was better towards the end, but just dreadfully inconsistent over the 90 minutes.

He was too gullible. Can't complain about the red though.

I remember him in the Mansfield game and he did the same at corners. You knew he would just blow for a foul and the game would stop. And much of the time there wasn't really much going on either way.

He also was easily bought in both for a player going down for a soft contact.
Not in or around the box though.

I actually thought it was a foul on seriki near the end. Not a pen though. He gets a shove that knocks him off balance and he carries on into the box. Would have been a good free kick position though.

Ref didn't do us any favours.
Far too many challenges judged as fouls
Red card looked right to be fair but thought he somehow booked brookes twice 🤔.

Not sure it effected the result , best team won but game would have been better with a better ref

Thought he was good first 15 mins or so, seemed to let most things go for both sides.

When they grew into the game and got on top he seemed to let their "class" effect his judgement and suddenly every touch on them is a foul.
He let them back into game first q5 he was terrible from minute 1 to 95.

He allowed them to slow the game down take all moment out of the game, time waste and he didnt even add any of it on.

That foul on Brooks was ridiculous, he five freekick against tanganaga for impending their player yet their player does exactly same in 2nd half in box to hamer and nothing.

He let boro players referee the game from the first whistle and he took the absolute piss with them allowing it.

I can’t be the only one who thought he was absolutely terrible tonight?

And he was only terrible for one side, he gave us absolutely nothing and they went down like a sack of shit and got a fk every time.

We were shit tonight, but that ref is a right twat.
Terrible.

Try bent.

Any number of red flags indicating preference and prejudice.

I’ll stand by what I stated.

UTB

PS - If we don’t appeal Rothwells red and don’t get it overturned, games gone beyond a level I even feared possible. Horrendous decision.

Everyone knows Ayling's tricks. He's done it his whole career. He waits for contact and throws himself to the floor, I've never seen him fail to win a free kick from it.

Our players should know this and more importantly the ref should. It's a contact sport and a small push isn't enough to knock over a fully grown man. It's pathetic that Ayling does it and it's pathetic that the ref gives it.

I think Ayling must have most refs as mates on social media because they seem to give him every decision and its been like that since his Leeds days.

The foul on Tanganga late on seemed like the ref could have thrown a red at them for? Not seen it back though.

Also, when the ball didn't go out of play in the first half in their box and Brooks gets back to the ball and is being pulled back, that looked like a penalty to me as their player isn't attempting to get the ball.

Like I have been banging on about for a while I think Wilder is now seen as Warnock among refs. It seems like we don't get much from many refs these days.

Could we just have one fair ref before the end of the season
What we have been given lately have been either incompetent or look add to their card totals. It looks more every game that the league gives them their orders. Thank goodness we are not relegation threatened like the Wendy or they would make sure we went down with them

Small thing but the time added on wasn’t extended for a second despite them having a series of throws where the took about 20-30 seconds for each one.
As some have said, I think we are a target for these petty-minded traffic wardens passing themselves off as officials.

He should have been booking them for those throw ins.

I wouldn't mind but if it's us 2-1 up you can bet your house one of our players would have seen a yellow card tonight.

So let me get this straight. Ayling has telegraphed that he goes down easily after contact for his entire career. There are two distinct approaches to take to this behaviour:

a) don't be so fucking stupid as to contact him and give him chance to win free kicks
b) cry about it

Personally I'd go for a) but I can understand people going for b) as blaming others rather than taking responsibility for your own mistakes is a really easy thing to do

I don't think he was as bad as some say and he got the big decisions right but he had absolutely no idea how officiate corners. It was genuinely weird how obsessed he was with looking for fouls. I don't think it affected the result but he definitely needs to be coached on this because he basically ensures there is no point in having a corner

I think it did effect it a bit.

They regularly get instructions to come to the Lane and not get intimidated by the crowd. The assessor is there observing looking at that. Believe it or not we are regarded as one of the harsher stadiums/crowds to referee. They take it too far. A few examples from this game were the fouls on Brooks first half. It's almost gone full circle from the Warnock days when refs would often give us everything.
