Next season I'd reduce the wage bill to something reasonable for a league one team. Let's see if Adkin or whoever can actually manage. My hope with this is that we buy young hungry players who have something to prove (obviously with the right manager in charge). I'm sick to death of watching old past it journeymen footballers taking this club for a ride. The best times as a Blade for me were the Bassett/Warnock eras when we didn't have a pot to piss in. We need that spirit back.

The thing is if a player is doing well at a lesser club ,we could pinch them for an extra 500 quid. A week ,the one thing that's attractive to anybody is a good wage rise . Tap the buggers up .theres some decent talent in league 1 and 2

There's some better players than we've got, that's for sure

...thats fine, but the rate we're going McCabe and Princey are going to have to pay a fee to buy some players in the summer...aren't they?

Spot on. We need to change our entire philosophy if we want to get anywhere next season, and the right manager needs to come in and agree to it. All this going for slow and old championship/premier league players on their way down needs to stop, that will naturally decrease the wage bill without even putting in that much of an effort. Having less players as a result of the releasing of all but one of those out of contract will also help.

To finish it off, we'd need to recruit sensibly and astutely, going for young, hungry, ambitious, athletic, strong, pacey players primarily from the lower divisions. These players wouldn't want anywhere near what we're currently shelling out for players of not even half the ability either, so it's nothing but a win win. It's just a case of having a brain when it comes to recruitment.
