I wonder whether our very own wild one(after his various celebrations on and over the touchline I now think of him as the Wild Man from Borneo) will break Fergie's record as the longest serving manager of one club.He is after all young enough.Just!
Nice thought anyway.

Wait until we have a shocking start to next season and we all think he is shite........ Football is a fickle business so my answer would be sadly no.

What was Fegies record? 27 Years or summat? Wilder is 49 so no I don't think Wilder will be in charge at 76. He could do a long stretch maybe a decade, maybe but I think Billy has the right attributes to be a Blades manger one day

I'm dreading Winger getting the bullet, as I'm sure the only man that they'll want to replace him is our very own CW!!!!
Back of Arse-nal!!

Once Wenger has gone, I don't think we'll ever see a manager serving anything like 20+ years ever again.

Eddie Howe has been at Bournemouth about 8 or 9 years apart from the peculiar spell at Burnley. He's 39 and I would imagine that he could well stay there for a number of seasons. May not achieve Wenger's 20+.

Wonder if one of the problems for today's managers is they get 'burned out' much quicker. I hope the powers that be at SUFC are wary of just how much Chris Wilder has put into this season. He cares about the club, he cares about the players, he cares about the supporters. Just hope that someone takes care of him.

It would be disappointing to say the least if next season he suffers from the 'second season syndrome'.

Logged in just to give you a like for this. The club should definitely be doing everything it can to take some of the load from Wilder. For just £50k per year I am happy to act as his PA UTB

The thing with Howe and Wilder, they aren't managing at the very top level. Therefore there is always the possibility of them taking a bigger job, Fergie and Wenger were at the top and winning things so weren't going to move in a hurry.

As for Wilder's burnout, don't you think he has given his all in his previous jobs? He didn't get the United job and decide to try extra hard because he supports the club. He wouldn't have got to where he is today by doing a half arsed job in previous roles!

I have just landed a part time job at 25k PA as his fluffer.
Back off MOFO.

Fergies record will never be beaten. Football has changed so much and clubs rightly or wrongly don't give managers a chance. Even Man United have become more trigger happy since Fergie went. No one gets a season just to consolidate.

I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill with this 'burn out' thing. I just believe we should be wary.

Wilder talks of 'the highs are higher and the lows are lower.' Let's just prevent him reaching any lows where there's no comeback.

His emotions after the Northampton game showed how much this promotion has meant to him. Not sure if he displayed that raw emotion when he gained promotion with other clubs.

I want Chris Wilder to be here for the next ten years laying down the foundation of long term success for the club.

If Kevin McCabe's best decision in his time with us was making that 'phone call to Chris Wilder then his second most important decision is to make sure that the guy is well and truly looked after.

After the supporters Chris Wilder is our greatest asset.

Wilder is currently the 45th longest serving manager out of the 92 clubs and hasn't been here a year yet. Tells you all you need to know about the current game.

If we do well he'll stay, if we have a bad run of 10 games or so next season his job will be at risk.

Personally, even if we go down next season I'd keep him as he'd be the best qualified man to take us back up. KM made that error with Warnock, hopefully he's learnt his lesson.

No. Fergie was different era and a lot of managers are at risk because of the whims of the owners (Leicester, Watford, Birmingham etc. etc.) But talking of records, ours just keep oooon cummin!

Yup, highest number of victories in a season. Ever. Plus:

17 different scorers

Highest scorers in the top four English divisions. (and only one own goal)

Joined Wolves, Burnley and Preston as the only teams to be champions in all four divisions

Only one red card all season

(and, not in the League but our 6-0 win over Orient is our highest-ever FA Cup score.)

Not many penalties either, not that I have the exact figure, and Billy missed a couple of those :)

Dunno/don't care about missed pens., but we've scored from five (4 from Billy and one from Coutts in injury time at Swindon on 14 March). Billy had been substituted. Fucking slacker.
