How entertained would you be if we didn't win and didn't go up and went bankrupt ?
That's actually a good point. Promotion is everything, performance is not.

We won't survive in the premier league playing like we do, but assuming we get there, there should be plenty of time and money to fix the issues.

We've got the building blocks of a solid team capable of playing good football, hopefully promotion money and new owner money will help us dot the i's and cross the t's to complete the team.

I'm encouraged by the fact we seem to be cruising to wins in second gear, there's definitely more in the team, when we come up against decent opposition I reckon we'll step it up a gear and we'll see what we're actually capable of

Just in case there’s anyone who still thinks that Fallowfield has any idea what he’s talking about, this bit here ☝️ isn’t even remotely true.

So you’re telling me that there isn’t a correlation between good performances and results

Like most on here your retort doesn’t have any basis you just go you’re wrong etc etc without actually saying why I’m wrong or what I’m wrong about

They had more possession and shots yesterday

We scored early and their gameplan went out of the window. They did nothing really with their possession and most of their shots were miles off.

Teams are and will continue to try and nullify us. It’s not going to lead to vintage performances but it’s par for the course for a team trying to get out of the Championship.

I quoted the exact bit that you were wrong about. I thought I’d made it quite obvious.

Of course there’s a correlation between performances and results. That’s not a profound analysis.

As it is our performances have been good enough to see us win 9 of our last 12 games.

It’s so strange because when Hecky first got the job we were returning 20+ shots a game. It was very exciting to watch. We start well but seem to get extremely complacent once in front. That said, we defend very well. Going 2-0 at home to Stoke you kind of hope to get a couple more and put them to the sword. One sloppy goal (it happens) and the whole mentality changes. We couldn’t keep the ball at times in the second half - it was reminiscent of a relegation-threatened team.

Was tempted to vote “we’re winning but performances are NOT good enough” but people need to understand the context.

In each game we have spells where we play great and in those spells we tend to score. We simply blow away the opposition and games become easy.

However once we’ve done the hard work we tend to take our foot off the gas and try to coast to a win. We are excellent at parking the bus. It’s not pretty but it’s very effective: Even when we’re under pressure we never really look like conceding. So it’s always tempting to sit back defending in numbers if we want to hold on to a leaf. I’ve no doubt if the opposition equalised then we’d resort to open attacking football again.

However the real answer should “we’re winning and that’s enough”.

We need to remind ourselves we stand at the crossroads. We MUST return to the PL this season otherwise we’ll be forced to sell our best players and we will (at best) be one a mid table side for years to come.
I went through the same process to reach the same answer

We are winning football matches and we are in great form. Seriously, what is there to complain about? That we do not win in style every single match? The Championship is all about grinding out results. We are doing that home and away. A good team turns mediocre or poor performances into wins. We are a very good team.

We are on course to being promoted. We are in the top two and have a great lead on the third placed side in the division.

As a fan base we are so used to moaning and groaning (me included) that we sometimes fail to see the bigger picture.

Let’s get us over the line and stop griping.

So many on here take offence so easily.
We are In a great position that is not for debate
But the style of play has dropped, possession has dropped and BDTBL is even quieter.
These are facts, and discussing them is not a crime
All I would like to see is a tad more style and slightly longer fingernails

It is not a case of being offended by the viewpoints of others. The point is, a collective of supporters, we should be seeing the bigger picture. The bigger picture is us playing well enough to gain promotion to the Premier League. If we want to keep hold of players such as Ndiaye and Anel, we need to be in the Premier League. If we also want to attract investors / new owner and improve the ground and training facilities then we need to be operating in the top division. Cast your minds back to Warnocks promotion season. It wasn’t pretty football. But we got there. Under Wilder we had to grind out many results towards the end of the season (plus hope results went our way which they did).
