There seems to be a few different schools of thought here and it's very divisive so would be interesting to see how many are in each camp.

We're winning games, we continue to win we go up, simple as..

We've got injuries, and have had injuries all season to key players, I think the management are doing a fantastic job, as are the team.

I want a bit more from Sander Berge, other than that I have no complaints..

We are second in the table and it's completely in our hands...

Ps, I want us to go up so we can keep this squad together, the Premier league is shite, but we need it's money dont we.

I agree with all your points except the last. The Premiership is better now than the first year we were in it, when several teams were reorganising.

I'm more than happy with our position and thr squad. We're knocking out wins regularly but I just feel we could and should be dominating more.

You can’t play well for 46 games a season, we have a good healthy lead over everyone bar Burnley

We have had some moments where we have just out outplayed teams and a few where we have struggled badly but the vast majority have been games where a few key moments either way have fell our way etc, if they hadn’t and fell the other way we would likely be a team just inside or just outside of playoff hunt

With parachute payments coming to an end and no pot to piss in we must get promoted to survive (unless and until the new owner turns out to have deep pockets).

On that basis - winning no matter how bad the performances and getting up is existential.

I just don't like VAR, it has an uncanny knack of giving the bigger teams the decision, its as if nothing has changed by it being introduced in the first place.

That offside at Tottenham, and the hawkeye bollocks at Villa, nope each to thier own, but it's not for me..

Well said that mate we need that promotion this season for financial reasons I think it’s done

I think it is often very different if you are watching your own team.

If I found myself in the unfortunate situation of being sat watching the game as a neutral I'd like it to be entertaining.

If it's United, it would be nice to be entertaining but I'd settle for a wild punt into the referee and rolling over the line for the scruffy win!

Was tempted to vote “we’re winning but performances are NOT good enough” but people need to understand the context.

In each game we have spells where we play great and in those spells we tend to score. We simply blow away the opposition and games become easy.

However once we’ve done the hard work we tend to take our foot off the gas and try to coast to a win. We are excellent at parking the bus. It’s not pretty but it’s very effective: Even when we’re under pressure we never really look like conceding. So it’s always tempting to sit back defending in numbers if we want to hold on to a leaf. I’ve no doubt if the opposition equalised then we’d resort to open attacking football again.

However the real answer should “we’re winning and that’s enough”.

We need to remind ourselves we stand at the crossroads. We MUST return to the PL this season otherwise we’ll be forced to sell our best players and we will (at best) be one a mid table side for years to come.

All I'm saying is they didn't set up solely to stop United playing. Do you think they did?
You're right. They totally dominated the second half and showed real attacking intent. Since we decided on a policy of no more than 3 passes before conceding possession back to them, combined with a refusal to push up the field, we made them look a lot better than they are and could easily have conceded an equaliser and maybe even a winner.

Yesterday was maybe the only game where we've got something we didn't deserve. We haven't been great since Burnley but I don't think we've nicked points or anything. We've deserved exactly what we've got in each game.

Spot on, exactly where I am mate..

So far we have the second best home record and the best away record in the Championship.
We have had endless injuries, mixed up the squad, players playing out of position.
Our games have turned on moments of quality, we have conceded silly goals, but that is football.
I struggle to understand why some of our fans can't cope with a not so great performance and accept the win.
The fans should focus on getting behind the team, home and away, give them the encouragement they need.
The fans can be the difference between getting the team over the line or not.

I half think the league is that wank we’re being dragged down to that level in a lot of games. I’ve bemoaned a lot of our performances, in fact some games I’ve been bored right off my tits, but then when I think about when we’ve played the better teams, we’ve really turned it on in spells and looked good.

Our quality far surpasses the majority of other teams in this league and tbh we look to be doing just enough to win games. We’re good enough to be out of sight by half time a lot of the time but like yesterday, we cruise into a 2 goal lead and then do something stupid making the game a lot closer than it should be. Even then, we’re rarely under much pressure when the opposition is chasing a goal.

Without wanting to sound like an arrogant pig, the quality in our squad means most games should be a piece of piss and I think the players know it. To me, it looks as though we are more suited to playing a decent team, a side who can actually give us a test. Theres nothing for us to be afraid of in this league, in fact the biggest danger to us, is us.

There’s many different type of “fans”.
It’s obvious from some of the comments that some don’t fully understand the game though.

Is there a 'we're not winning and the performances need to improve' option? They clearly are 'good enough', because we keep winning. They 'need to improve' because games could start to go against us.

Since Wilder got us out of L1, it seems like a lot of our wins have been by one goal. It feels like almost every game we end up hanging on whilst the opposition throws the kitchen sink at us. That shreds the nerves. I don’t think it’s just about “performance”, I don’t think any reasonable supporter expects us to play like peak Barca every game, it would just be nice to see out a game with a two goal lead.
The problem with the championship is that without a benefactor owner, you can’t stay in it. You either go up, or you eventually go down. The idea of “just staying in the championship” isn’t an option. No owner wants to pay £10m a season to own a championship club, they either get promoted or they start cutting back until the club’s screwed and they find a way to fuck off.
We know this and we know how much not going up this season may set us back. So, the tension is heightened further. It’s a pivotal season for us, with a takeover thrown in. I think there’s been a lot of shit posted but I can absolutely appreciate why people are projecting their fears onto everyone else, and why people are reacting so strongly; because deep down we’re all a little tense. And it’s almost impossible to be anything but subjective when watching your own team.

Think some on here need to give their head a wobble

For all the shite that’s talked about how crap we are, the stats don’t add up

Top defence, attack and overall

Coventry are 5th overall but languishing in 15th in the table - their fans will be saying “yes we play good football, but performance’s don’t get points”

Glass of water - There’s half full, half empty and then some of us throw the glass on the floor and have a fanny paddy cos it’s only water.5A3735B9-40CD-4799-8375-B2995BFEC29D.png999F6840-A00E-488C-9583-DB0F6A008501.png1637233B-1EFE-4469-97B0-39C086F6201A.png
