Reaction from a proper manager

You will not listen to a more constructive and honest critique that Wilder's about today's game. It says volumes about his willingness not to shirk his responsibilities, and talking for a full six minutes with as much interesting commentary is just part of what makes him a standout manager. The fact that he manages the club we all love is to our benefit.

What a guy.

It would take Badkins 6 minutes to tell us his name.

I'd imagine that he'd come up with something like this...
Adkins: I'll tell you what though, we've got an honest, hard working bunch of lads here. Thought they were all magnificent today in a very hard set of circumstances. If you'd asked me before the game that we'd come to a tough place like Rochdale and got a point, a point, i'd have had your hand off. Brilliant set of lads, they did everything i asked. I couldn't ask for more
RS: 3 soft goals though...
Adkins: Hey, we had to battle here, the elements were against us and as you saw, we came out in the second half and retook the lead. Yeah, we had to juggle things about but what a comeback from Billy, not a sniff all game, but led the line so well and got his goal. The pitch was tough and i thought they were all leaders today. I'm proud of these boys tonight

Spot on assessment from CW as usual. We had an off-day, and they were the better side over the 90 minutes.

However, the path to promotion is via grinding out decent results when you're not at your best, and today, as stated, we improved our position as regards auto promotion. Gap up to 8 points, and another game less for scunthorpe or bolton to catch us (I think Fleetwood are going up in the top 2 now...hopefully we can get enough results to stay ahead of them and win the league).

CW is always so refreshingly honest in his assessment of our performances - it reflects what most fans think about the game they've just witnessed - For years & years I have listened to managers who put a spin on games - Adkins took it to farcical levels - but now our Chris says exactly what I want him to tell the players - we couldn't ask for a better guy - he inspires a lot of trust amongst the fans - which is the reason for the feelgood factor returning to the Lane.
The only question I have of him today is why not replace O'Connell with EEL and stay 352 instead of changing to 442 ?
We lost our shape and they got their second (partly thanks to Moore's panicked "push-away").
I believe he acknowledged his error moments later when he took the opportunity to bring EEL on and go back to 352 or 3511 however you want to analyse it when Hanson went off.

Close, but he would've said the word "endeavour" a lot, and ended with a shit line from some inspirational internet meme.

I think it's quite a fair and accurate assessment.

One one hand it feels like points dropped because we were 2-0 up, but on the other it feels like a point gained because we didn't play well today, Rochdale did and the pitch was difficult to say the least.

Keith Hill is an admirable manager. He set them up to attack us and they exposed us down our left hand side. Jamie Allen (24) was superb in midfield.

We weren't able to cope with the pitch and weren't able to play our usual football through the middle.

I think the half time change was to try and stop them attacking down our flanks so much, but it didn't work. We regained some control when we went to one up front with Duffy and Carruthers supporting, but it wasn't enough to win the game. We needed to close them down higher up the pitch but we weren't able to do it enough.

Ultimately it's worked out OK today. We've gained on Scunny and not lost any ground to Bolton. Shame Fleetwood are so close to us though.

Top class interview. There again, nowt less than we've come to expect - win, draw or lose. No crowing, no bullshit, no excuses.

That fucking Vincenti or whatever hes called ,number 7 does my box in ,has a blinder every year. I noticed Knill walked off the pitch with him ,maybe tapping him up ?

I also thought perhaps today would double up as a scoutibg trip for CW and Knilly with them having a good look at some of the Rochdale players. Some of them could perhaps be polished up and could be championship class if and when we get there. To be fair NML had a blinder yesterday and I always thought he hasn't achieved his potential. Probably too inconsistent. Thought they had some good pacy players did the Dale. Good point gained yesterday for me.
