Tbf I've said this before I don't think PH is a great manager but he's a great manager for us

100%. End the thread now, we’ve already reached the correct answer!
Heckys PPG last season was 1.92 and 1.84 in the 22 playoff season. Consistently better than Howe, Klopp, Conte etc and with just the one fee paid signing in Anel. Despite losing to manager of the season Carrick of course...

Hecky isn’t even a manager, he is a coach first and foremost, that’s why he gets the best out of players (or tries to at least).

The fact he made one signing can't really be used to back up his achievement. It just shows he inherited a team that was already too good for the level it was at.

yeah, they known United fans are quick to be vocal. See also Talksport digging us out whenever they can because it generates calls/clicks.

Its totally wrong

Hecky is the worlds greatest manager beause he took a team out the champ with ndiaye and berge

I like Paul but he is not on the same level as a Dyche so to speak

Id say Paul is on the same level as Gary oneil then the rest are much better

Thats appalling judgement anyway

Regardless that we could be seen to favour hecky because he's our manager what the fuck have Kompany, Postecoglu, Gary O'neill, Edwards and the cunt from Bournemouth done to be judged higher?

This person clearly gets all his info from TALKsport

To be fair think it's just them being honest and generally ill informed about anything outside the PL.....it's not personal against United.

Outsiders never rated us when Wilder was manager but we all saw the revolution in playing style with our own eyes.
There were several matches....especially in league 1 ....where we were like Barcelona....within 10 minutes you knew we were going to win...the gap was so vast.
When we conceded early I had zero concerns because I knew it was only a matter of time before we scored.
I also felt quite confident we'd finish mid table in the PL under Wilder.

However the "ill informed" comment doesn't really apply under Hecky.
Everyone knows we were one of the pre-season favourites and had one of the biggest budgets, most expensively assembled teams.
Hecky did a good job but you can't call it great when even an average manager would have got us promoted.

Also if you do some research and look at Heckys record...it must be one of the worse in the division.
He's done well with us and to some degree with Barnsley but he's been poor everywhere else.
If he left us...think he'd struggle to get a decent job....probably best bet would be a top end league 1 team or someone like Rotherham in the Championship.

I think Heckys main strength last season was his dour, unemotional personality, total opposite to Wilder who wore his heart on his sleeve.
When we've had potentially de stabilising onwership issues....Hecky was brilliant....never let it publicly affect him or the players.
Also when Middlesboro hit that brilliant patch of form and (at times) outclassing us in their 3-1 win at Bramall Lane, many of our fans were convinced Boro would never lose a game again and would pip us, but again Hecky stayed calm, grounded and focused.

Overall I think Hecky is an average manager (not great but not bad) but he delivered last season in what was probably our most important ever season.
One could argue Hecky saved this club from a total disaster, a melt down and possible admin. So he massively deserves his shot at the big time.
There are other young managers (with little track record) like Kompany that can't be judged properly....but it's so far..so good for them..hence the higher rating.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree with your points but what it points to then is general ignorance around the subject.
There's no way you can give Kompany Good for example if they're looking at their records equally. They don't know Hecky, and haven't bothered to look into it either.
While I don't particularly like him, rating Moyes as bad too is equally stupid.

Agree.....there is this blinkered PL viewership that seriously think

Kompany played for Man City and was a great leader and role model there.
He worked under Pep playing good football, so obviously he's going to be a great manager.
As we all know it's never that simple....in fact great players tend to be shit managers.
In reality most players and managers are based on image. style over substance,
that explains why David Beckham and Neymar Junior often appear in greatest player conversations.

It's sad (discriminatory) how appearance and accent seems to cloud the general publics judgments. Hecky has this dour public persona
(he might actually be a laugh in private) and Barnsley (Yorkshire) accent. Moyes looks like a cast member (one of the zombies) from Walking Dead
So they're both up against it before they even start.

The thing with Hecky is that he comes across as a quiet well mannered guy who just gets on with the job without too much fuss. He doesn't generate headlines on the back (or front)pages so goes under the radar, and therefore not many know him so it's lazy journalism to categorise him as a poor manager. We don't care anyway do we ?

Kompany up there in the top half, for a single-season career spent cantering through the Championship on easy mode with comfortably the league's best squad and highest budget.

Just because the guy who compiled this rated him as a player 🤣

Every chance he turns out to be another Lampard now he's up against decent sides every week.

Wouldn’t mind but Hecky with a promotion and a fa cup semi final vs Kompany who did shite at Belgiums biggest club and got a recently relegated side promoted.
