All this clapper v's knocker bollocks has got me thinking about how far down (or up for the clappers) our Mr Blackwell is in a list of managers in The Championship.

So for the purpose of this thread think about your club as having no current manager and then select who you would put in from top choice to'last pick.

This is not to say you'd swap that manager for Blackwell right now - i.e. I wouldn't want Blackwell sacked and Nigel Clough in as the new gaffer BUT if we had no gaffer I may choose Clough above Blackwell...

Based on what they've achieved etc etc, I can safely say there's only David Jones, maybe Gary Johnson and di Matteo that I'd go for. Someone can cut and paste this but I'd bet at least half of those won't be in the same job this time next season.

As well as he's doing at the minute, I don't rate Holloway as a manager. Billy Davies I can't stand but if he came here I could see him doing a good job. The ideal candidate for me though would be Dave Jones, but with Cardiff doing as well as they are at the minute I can't see it happening.

Based on pure managerial achievements (rather than personal preference) the top three would be Strachan, Warnock and Jones. Probably in that order.

It's a bit harsh to lump Robins, Pearson, Johnson, O Driscoll, Hughton, Irvine, Adkins and Di Matteo in with the "shower of shite" crew. I think they've all been pretty successful in their careers to date.

In One: O'Driscoll, Jones, Strachan, Johnson, Irvine, Coleman

In Two: Robins, Dimatteo, Hughton, Adkins, Rogers, Sousa, Cooper

In Three: The shower of shite. However, this includes Warnock simply because you should never go back and Laws because of his current position.

Robins - took Rothrum from mid table Division 4 to, mid table Division 4 albeit with financial constraints
Pearson - 1 good season to take Leicester up from Division 3
O'Driscoll - very much overrated IMO due to the way his teams 'play football', not convinced he can step up beyond where he is now
Hughton - been a manager for about 20 games
Irvine - done OK at Preston, no more no less, couldn't outwit Blackie last season when it mattered (one for the Blackie lovers/haters )
Adkins - As with O'Driscoll, not sure he has what it takes at this level

As Robbie said, they're all much of a muchness and Blackie's record probably stands up as good, if not better, than most at this level which was the main point of this thread.

Ok, IF we were without a manager, and Blackwell was one of the ones available, he wouldn't be in the top half of managers i'd be looking at. Here's my revised list including Blackwell:

I just think the people above him are more tactically capable. However, in the real world Blackwell is still the current gaffer, and i'll back most managers at this club until such time that they've had a good crack at getting it right. Blackwell has 6 games for me, but only once the majority of the squad are fit, i think it's only fair he's given the chance to get it right with the best players available.
