Hey everyone…

Just stumbled upon the link below. The railway is closed between Meadowhall and Sheffield from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th Feb.

I think Northern are running as far as Meadowhall.

Railway Closure - 2nd to 6th Feb

It's weird, I just stumbled upon the link below which is saying more or less the same thing

The Tram is an option though yes... or a bus? 4 people in an Uber would be about the same price. Great share though for people expecting to catch the train. You have given advanced planning info

Bastards.

That's me stuffed then.

Mind you I'm full of cold at the moment so it might be a blessing 🤣
Doesn't affect trains on the main line to and from London and routes south as the work is north of Sheffield. The travelling hordes of Oxford fans won't be affected. ;)

Thread title.

Affecting ... Not effecting.

Almost direct opposites.

Affecting is a verb meaning "having an (often negative) effect upon".

Effect is mainly used as a noun.

Occasionally - as a verb - Effecting can mean "enabling" or "causing"

for example

The company appointed a new CEO , hoping that he will effect a positive change in its fortunes.

I'll take a yellow card for pedantry but this one really grinds my gears.
