Radio 5 breakfast show regular. Is that him on the xbox advert?
Where did it all go right for him?

have noticed that this week on our drive in to work-sports correspondent fat ginger seth, and his blue and white followers.cant stand the heffer.

I complained to a Paul walker tweet this week and got the sarcastic response back.. They don't like any criticism, they give it out but can't take it. I for one will continue my boycott.

I've unknowingly boycotted RS - used to listen to football heaven each night without fail, switched TalkSport on once about 3 months ago and never looked back since. Fair enough, there's less discussion about my beloved but there's much better discussion than on RS - and they screen their callers.

You'll soon get bored of that when they discuss Chelsea, Man U, Arse or Tottingham for the millionth time.
Even when they get peope on from lower division clubs they ask a few questions then get their opinion onthe latest Premiership happenings - Brazil is the worst offender on this score though.

Having said that Danny Kelly reallly knows his stuff and Stan is always good for stoking up a debate - has some good opinions as well. Durham and Gough are as dull as dishwater.

BTW if you think you have been botcotting RSFH all summer, think again. It's not been on air since the PoF save for a couple of editions I think - not that I have tuned in much recently over t'internet though.

:tumbleweed:

I've refused to listen to it, following an angry exchange of views on Twitter with Rob Staton.

I can't stand any off them, and my life will so much richer for not listening to the usual crap coming from the mouth's of the usual protagonists.

And not listening to Brian will be an added bonus.

I think I've reached the stage of life where I find ALL radio excerable now, except for 6 music.

Agreed about Brazil - although tend not to listen too much in the morning. Quite like Durham and Goughy on the way home from work though, mainly cus they rip into Arsenal on a daily basis.

I know what you mean about the big 4 too, suppose it's just a change is as good as a rest.

Even TMS?

Mind you it did fuck me off the other week. Driving round Derbyshire with it on, Brownie jnr asleep in the back, on our way to Gullivers Kingdom with TMS on low, and Tino Best on 92no, asleep in the back sleep, and then it went to the fucking shipping forecast.

Now that is quality radio. I love listening to TMS - just simple and unassuming radio, delivered at the height of professionalism, with that element of apparent chaos and eccentricity that is both appealing and endearing.
It makes you feel part of an elite sporting event without the over hyped nonsense you get from the so called big football games that, more often than not, fail to deliver - yet the pundits try to tell you otherwise.

Aggers and the team are excellent broadcasters - eccentric and quintissentially English
(Blowers and his pidgeons etc. wonderful stuff)
Probably many people will find it trite and boring but it's terrific stuff to break the boredom of a long car journey or as background to all those weekend jobs around the house and garden during the summer.

I don't even mind the shipping forecast on the Long Wave too much - it kind of reminds me of simpler and less intense times. They will always tell you about what you missed (it's often a drinks break) and it's not like you are watching it on the telly, so if you miss it it's gone.

And what's also great about it?
The England ccricket team is first class. They perform, they are quality, they are an elite bunch and they are winners. Having no choice who I support for my football team and cricket teams, it's nice that at least one of them is successful.

Hawksbee and Jacobs 1pm-4pm each weekday on TalkSport are fantastic. They've been the most entertaining show on radio for some years now.

Couldn't agree more, Kenilworth. As a Blade, I accept that shit happens, and there's nothing that can be done to change that, it's part and parcel of our mission in life.

TMS almost takes you back to a better time, when sports news was not conveyed by a blonde whose sole attributes are tits and teeth, but by people who have played the game, and actually know what they're on about. Tits and teeth are OK in the right time and place, but Sky now try to reach the lowest common denominator by tailoring their presentation for Sun readers.

Also agree about the England set-up - the rest of the world now stand and watch, whereas before, we were the rubbing-rags. I also think that Yorkshire might start to improve now that the show ponies have been weeded out.

At my age, I accept that I will probably never see United chasing major honours, or Yorkshire dominating as they did when I was a kid, but we all live in hope that another Currie/Woodward team might emerge - as is the main point of your post, I think, let's smell the flowers along the way and take sport for what it is.

Best thing on the radio, listen whenever I can and download the podcast.

Radio Sheffield is boringly predictable and where as H & J are quite unassuming, most Radio Sheffield presenters being big fishes in a little pond appear to think they are some kind of superstar. Listen to Toby if I am in the car in a morning in the vain hope of hearing some blades related news, it appears we no longer appear on the radar. Let the boycott begin.

You wouldn't think a thread named after a truly wank sports (well if you think Ice Hockey is a sport) commentator has turned around to feature 6Music (great music broadcasting), TMS (great sports broadcasting) and Tits (just great).
Well done lads.

Alan Biggs tweets; Would expect Chris Porter to be top-notch in L1 - so his 2 year deal & likely signing of defender Milan Misun puts #sufc on move again.

Seth answers; @AlanBiggs1 really re:porter I think he struggled last year and was realistically 3rd or 4 th choice - "for me unlikely to score over 15.

And probably wont make 30 starts

Alan counters; @Sethb45 Like to see the good in everyone & I'm backing him on what I saw near end of season. Rest not good enough - then set his standard.

Followed by; @Sethb45 Well, maybe I was being a bit over-generous. Tell you what, he'll owe me a pint if gets 20 goals he's capable of. And so will you!

Then the lardy states; @AlanBiggs1 ok 1 pint for over 15 goals and a second pint for 30 + starts. It could be an entertaining evening in the pub - Porter Brook?

The big feller is not impressed with Porter then. Be interesting if he has to interview him during the course of the cOming season

The way i read through the sports media has changed beyond belief over the last year, and that is with me embracing the world of Twitter.

Who i follow on there is tailor made for my likes and interests in the world of sports media, and some of them you can interact quite a bit with.

My personal favourites are the Telegraph reporter Alan Biggs, who is a lot lower profile than the plebs on RS, but he is quite in-depth, very knowledgble and breaks news a lot quicker than anyone else about local clubs. Mike Selvey the Guardian cricket writer who comes across very well, and a few months back when i was on the train to work at 5am, i had a conversation with him about Scarborough Cricket Ground, David Conn from the Guardian is another worth following.

It is now very rare that i buy a newspaper as i can read all the articles that i want, and that i find of interest me through Twitter and the various sports media i follow. The other good thing is that i followed Stan Collymore for all of about 2 weeks before getting of him, and Mike Parry a similar length of time.

Regarding Radio, I turned off Talk sport about 8 years ago fed up of listening to Brazil and the awful Mike Parry, their attempts at having debates on sporting subjects were trully woeful
TMS is great listening, had the pleasure of meeting Blowers a few years ago at Headingley during a test match, what a character
I only listen to RS for any sports news Walker and Foster are completely pants and have nothing to offer their shows format is very tired.
Watching Yorkshire occasionally I have at least seen a team I support win a trophy the C & G at Lords what a fantastic day out that was and plenty of beer
